Special dhcp options and PXElinux
Hi I am trying to enable my dhcpd and pxelinux setup to use a specific config file for a booting client. I have read the pxelinux page for this (http://syslinux.zytor.com/pxe.php#special) but still seem to be encountering problems. When running the dhcpd with the '-d' debug option the daemon sees the DHCPDISCOVER from the client and then core dumps. On the client side the DHCPDISCOVER

bind9 and isc-dhcp-Server for dynamic DNS-updates Error
Hi Rowland, I resolve the problem partially. The problem was due to the fact that I do not have winbind installed because Samba 4, Bind9 and isc-dhcp-server are on the same server. I commented on these lines in the script dhcp-dyndns.sh and it worked (on commit and on release but not on expiry ) #TESTUSER=$(wbinfo -u | grep dhcpduser) #if [ -z "${TESTUSER}" ]; then # echo "No

I am reading through the script and see some things I did not change... Will do that and try again. As well as create the log file manually. Hello Rolawnd, I followed the wikipage exactly. Bind9 is installed on the Samba DC. The Linux-Client should be a member of the Active Directory-domain? Any advice for installing Samba as an AD server on Raspbian Buster with BIND9 and ISC DHCP?
Sorry about the HTML in the last email - I'm attempting to resend (with fingers crossed that my mailer doesn't throw in a bunch of HTML this time...) ----> I've taken the good suggestions and made some progress getting a bind-dhcp-samba server running on the Pi with Raspbian Buster. Securring DHCP, with DDNS
You may have 2 dhcps running, but you have to make sure the lease ranges are different. The first dns server stanza should refer to the server which gets the lease update. For the dns servers you would need to define each other as forwarder, probably by ip range, to be able to resolve the other (half of the) names. -- W.Mautner (Walter.mautner at ages.at) +43050555111 IKT Hotline > Am

dhcp server
Hi all, this is my first post on this list, hope someone can help me. I have to run a dhcp server on CentOS release 5.5 (Final). # yum list| grep -i dhcp dhcp.x86_64 12:3.0.5-23.el5 installed dhcp-devel.x86_64 12:3.0.5-23.el5 installed dhcpv6-client.x86_64 1.0.10-18.el5 installed after starting the dhcpd daemon, the windows Clients on the subnet (192.168.100.0/24) tells me, that there is no

Fwd: DHCP Updates to DNS - Multiple Entries with Same IP
Rowland, You're absolutely right - with '128' both DHCP servers listen and *may* reply, therefore besides failover provide load balancing. Even if both servers respond with *Offers* to the client, the client will select one and issue *one Request* to the selected server. E.g., below is a log records from my failover DHCP (192.168.0.2) server: May 17 00:09:37 s-dhcpd-2 dhcpd[1578]:

Again kea DHCP-Server
Well? I?m not convinced KEA can?t be simple DHCP, though I understand that one would never know that from reading the KEA documentation. The following is a complete KEA configuration suitable to do a single subnet. In fact, you could probably get away with slightly less. I?ve replaced the unique addresses from my environment with placeholders (e.g. <network/mask>), but otherwise, this is a

Rowland.. the solution to the failover came after we advices to setup with 2 servers and manualy start them up.. Maybe its best we put this on the samba wiki? Would help a lot of users. Samba, IPv6, turning off NetBT and Network discovery
Hi, I hope this hasn't already been discussed to death, but I didn't find the answer through Google. In short, my question is: how can I advertise a Samba server through UPnP/Network Discovery? I'm currently using Samba 3.2.6, but should be able to upgrade if needed. I am trying to build an IPv6-only network, for now just for testing purposes. The problem I am having is that

pfSense DHCP integration with Samba AD DDNS
Hi Rowland, I don't want to to run an AD DC on firewall device, barely DHCP and maybe DNS. What you have pointed me to is similar to what I have in place: https://blog.michael.kuron-germany.de/2011/02/isc-dhcpd-dynamic-dns-updates-against-secure-microsoft-dns/ and which is working fine. NOW I want to switch DHCP from isc-dhcp-server 4.2.2 on Debian to DHCP on pfSense firewall (based on
