Samba 3.0.x in ADS mode in a Windows Krb AD forest domain, does it work?
Hi, With some luck someone on this list can tell me if what I'm trying to do is possible with Samba 3, and if I'm really lucky how to get it working. As I'm pretty stuck at the moment and have hit the limits of my knowledge. At present in my environment we are running numerous Samba 2 servers in server and domain level security (I know server level security is a bad idea), and

Shredding instead of deleting
Hi, I have a wishlist item. Is there an appropriate place for me to post it? Basically, I would like to know that my email isn't recoverable from the local disk on the mail server after I delete it. So instead of just deleting the file from my Maildir, I'd like the option to exist for Dovecot to shred it.. Ie, overwrite the file with random data and/or null bytes before deletion. In the

meta-analysis normal quantile plot metafor
Hello, I once used the metawin software to perform a meta-analysis (see metawinsoft, Rosenberg et al.) and produced normal qqplot to test for a potential bias in the dataset. I now want to re-use the same dataset with the package metafor by W. Viechtbauer (great package btw). I run the qqnorm.rma.uni function. I use standardized effect sizes as in metawin. QQplot generated with metafor differs

A question ...
Hi, I'm running windows 98 on my workstation and there're couple of unix boxes around, they're BSDI, SOLARIS which are all configured to run SAMBA. One strange thing is that everytime I try to get into my unix home dir under win98 workstation, I will be asked for a password, but no matter what password I put in, I won't be allow to go in. That didn't happen before under

Need Advice: 2.0.4 or CVS samba
Hello, I'm currently running a CVS version of SAMBA w/ PDC support from before the 2.0.x series release. It has worked well for my needs. Now I'm wanting to update my NT machines to SP5 which I assume doesn't work with my version of SAMBA (SP4 doesn't). I couldn't find the answer in the mail list archives. So....... I know 2.0.4 doesn't have "official"

Disabling storeing of cached profiles?
Hello! I know that this is not samba related, but may be some one knows a quick answer: When using profiles, stored on a well running samba-2.0.0beta2 PDC, the NT PC's cache the profile during a user session. As this profile is not deleted on the PC and we have a lot of users with only few PC's we need a lot of diskspace for this old profiles. Is there a way (Registry Key, ..) that

Releasing a code version that stays for a while
I've been working on a package for openssh to include in the NetBSD package system (similar to the FreeBSD ports system). I'm being hindered in this by the fact that updates to these packages can be extremely slow (2-3 days minimum, more like 2 weeks including testing), too slow to compensate for the fact that the tarfiles for back-level versions of openssh-1.2pre* are going away. Given

/etc/ssh/shosts.equiv ignored?
I'm trying to replace ssh 1.2.27 with openssh 1.2.1-pre* It seems that a openssh client accessing any openssh/ssh server I've setup always results in a password prompt. It also seems that a openssh server requires ssh clients to provide a password regardless of the entries in the /etc/ssh/shosts.equiv file. If I shut off the openssh server and run a ssh server then normal ssh client

Failed password
Hi, If there is a place to post this, please advise, but I am stuck. I have recently installed openssh-1.2.3 on a Red Hat 6.1 installation. Everything compile ok but I don't get no password auththenticcation. So I recompiled openssh-1.2.3 without PAM support and it still does not work. I can log into the system otherwise (shadow password is enabled). Here is what I have in my

Linksys SPA94x keep-alive reply replies to wrong address (1.4.32)
It appears as though the 489 Bad Event response to the NAT keep alive event responds to the local address, instead of responding to the NATted address. This causes Linksys phones to go amber (no registration) after a short amount of time after placing calls. Turning the Linksys NAT keep alive off is a workound, but non-ideal in may situations. Apparently the asterisk devs don't even think

Beware: Samba is a hoax
I can only conclude that Samba is an elaborate hoax and here's why. 1) Setup is more complex than Sendmail (it set the standard for complexity) 2) Even the simplest smb.conf causes trouble 3) You can pass ALL the tests in the DIAGNOSIS procedure, AND Samba will still not let you SHARE FILES or SHARE PRINTERS between Windows and Unix but you WILL be able to BROWSE YOUR SHARES (Just pretend

Why does oplocks = False not seem to stop file cacheing?
Greetings All, I have tried everything I can think of and can not seem to stop the PC from cacheing a local copy of a file retrieved over a samba share. I have tried oplocks = false and also setting veto oplocks = /*.txt/ Whatever I try the PC still shows me the old version of a file after I modify it on the unix side. If anyone can see anything wrong with my smb.conf file please let me know.

generate function not working within conditional?
Hi, could this be a bug? I have this code: $mypath = get_module_path(''ssh'') if generate("${mypath}/scripts/generate_host_keys.sh", "${keys_dir}/${::fqdn}/ssh") { notify {''something'':} include ssh::server::keys } generate_host_keys.sh script generates ssh host keys for ssh daemons, and stores them in private section. Those files

Old kernel bug back in CentOS 6.10?
I updated a few hypervisors and their VMs to CentOS 6.10 on Monday; today I awoke to an alert saying all VMs are down. It looks like a very old bug crept back in. The machine is a ProLiant DL380 G7 with Xeon X5675 and 96 GB, running half a dozen smallish VMs. Hypervisor and all VMs have kernel 2.6.32-754.2.1.el6.x86_64. Around the time the VMs must have gone down, there are quite a few error
