An even more strange win95 browsing problem
Hi, I posted a few messages a couple of days ago about a strange windows 95 browsing problem with samba-2.0.2, 1.9.17p4 that none of our Windows 95 users can see our Linux shares, but all NT users can see the Linux shares, and all 95 and NT users can see AIX shares. All of our Linux and AIX use the save version of samba (I tested 2.0.2 and 1.9.17p4). Yesterday, I tried to down grade the version

Problems Building Ron AIX 5.2.0.0 (Solved)
Happily I got this to work, largely by trial-and-error. In hopes that this will help somebody else, my config.site ended up being: OBJECT_MODE=64 R_PAPERSIZE=letter CC=/usr/local/bin/gcc MAIN_LDFLAGS=-Wl,-brtl SHLIB_LDFLAGS=-Wl,-G Which is virtually identical to that recommended in R-admin: one of my problems was using "-W1,brtl" rather than "-W1,-brtl". This was R 2.0.1

Pb: browsing list
Hello, I wanted to view a AIX box as a WinNT box, so I downloaded the file samba-1.9.17p3.aix-3.2.5.tar.gz to install samba on the unix machine (IBM RS6000). It runs AIX Version 3. My client machine runs WinNT 4.00.1381 (x86 Family 6 Model 1 Stepping6). Samba is now installed on /usr2/local/samba. There are some symbolic links on /usr/local/samba that point to the corresponding files in

Problems Building R on AIX 5.2.0.0 (Update)
Hi, My previous message is appended: I'm still struggling with building on AIX. I updated my config.site to follow the suggestions from R-admin: MAIN_LDFLAGS=-Wl,brtl SHLIB_LDFLAGS=-Wl,-G This led to an error during configure: checking whether mixed C/Fortran code can be run... configure: WARNING: cannot run mixed C/Fortan code configure: error: Maybe check LDFLAGS for paths to Fortran

"hide unreadable files" also hides readable files
Hello We have a Samba 3.0.11 Fileserver running on Solaris and joined to an Active Directory. I have shares, with many directories, and I want to hide the directories, people are not allowed to access anyway. So I engaged the "hide unreadable files" option. This basically works. The Problem arises, when the user is logged on locally (not authenticated to the Domain) and mounts the

"hiding" and "vetoing" files (for Samba 2.2.2 & Windows Explorer)
We're running Samba 2.2.2 on an RS/6000 (AIX 4.3.3) using Windows 95 clients. We've tried the "hide files" and "veto files" option in smb.conf, but when the shares are mapped, we can still see the contents in Windows Explorer. We used the wildcard for all the contents of the shares (ex. hide files = /*.*/). The Samba manual only makes reference to Windows 98, so

Problem copying directories using sftp
Hello! A couple of days ago I submitted the problem report shown below to the support forum for WinSCP. I got a reply (shown at the end of this e-mail) saying that this in part was a WinSCP problem, but also that there appeared to be something wrong with the replies from OpenSSH-3.9p1 under AIX 4.3.3. The full dialog including the reply can be seen at

Server option PrintLastLog does not work on AIX
Hi Apparently, the server option "PrintLastLog" does not work on AIX. The last login time is always displayed, disregarding the option. When browsing the code, I found out there are several functions in loginrec.c which solely handle the processing of the last login info (login_get_lastlog, getlast_entry). Since AIX does not provide such a function natively, the configure script sets

Hi, I'm trying to build samba 4.1.4 on an AIX 5.2.0.0. I'm using GCC v3.3.2 and python 2.7.6 I've configured the build with this command (disabling ACL because of missing headers on my system concerning nfs4 acl): $) LDFLAGS=-lpthread ./configure -C --prefix=/i/infext/samba-4.1.4 --without-acl-support And then I have run the build procedure but it fails on linking libtalloc.so

We're *****very happy***** samba users in an environment where: 3 HP-UX 10.20 9000/700 ws act as servers for about 35 Win95/NT clients. Just upgraded to 2-0-5a: much performance for clients with very very low ws load. Great. There is one ws acting as main server offering disks via NFS to the other two, and there is a central samba configuration area where we use the machine name to

Windows printer applet fails to list print jobs with spaces in their name
I am currently using samba 3.0.24 on AIX 5.3 in order to share AIX printers to Windows XP clients. This is working fine for the most part, but there is one annoying issue that I have not been able to solve: When using the windows "printers and faxes" applet on the client to display the list of jobs queued on a printer shared by samba, the client will only display print jobs which do
