Samba & AIX
Does anyone have any experience installing/configuring the latest Samba on AIX 5.2?... If so, would you care to share your notes? Thanks all. Andy Speagle "Always remember that you are unique. Just like everybody else."

LDAP user search request includes domain
Hi, I'm running a Samba 3.0.32 server on AIX 6.1, AIX is authorizing with secldapclntd to an OpenLDAP Server. The Clients are coming from a Windows 2003 Terminal Server Thin Client session, logged in to the domain. I see in the logs that secldapclntd tries 3 times to authorize using DOMAIN\USER as identification, and then finally uses USER(which works). Is this Samba behavior, or AIX? Is

Linking against a specific Berkeley DB install
I sent this question to the OpenLDAP list yesterday, but I still haven't seen the message come across the list. I am asking here in the hopes of getting a faster response. I am trying to compile OpenLDAP 2.3.11 from source on CentOS4. I have the rpm for db4-4.2.52-7.1 installed and also a source build of BerkeleyDB in /usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.4. How do I get OpenLDAP to link with the bdb

start tls problem
I'm having trouble getting tls working. It used to work until I changed the smb.conf file to to poing to a different host. I think I have tracked it down to ldap servers ssl cert issuer(CA). I keep getting errors like "self signed certificate in certificate chain" while using openssl commands or a ldapsearch w/ tls and debug mode. So my question is... Where can I put a

samba as a file server
I currently have samba 3.0.2 working with ldap as a filer sever Only. My question is how would I get samba working as file server that would handle 50k users. My main concern is that I want reliability. I would also like to be able to build horizantally if needed. I was first thing some type of cluster connecting to a SAN but I would rather do it like we do our webservices. We have x

Problems migrating from WBEL
Hi folks: I've recently migrated one of my production servers (bad Jason!) from WBEL to CentOS 3.3 using Donavan's instructions in the FAQ (http://www.centos.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=19). While it was as painless as the document suggests, I've run into problems with postgrey (a postfix greylisting daemon) on my server. Whenever I try to start postgrey, I get the

Compiling v1.3 on different OSes
I was hoping to finally get shared libdovecot.so and libdovecot-storage.so libraries for v1.3, so Sieve (and maybe others) could link against them. But I'm running into trouble getting it to compile in Solaris 10. Could you non-Linux users test if this compiles with you? http://dovecot.org/tmp/dovecot-1.3.UNSTABLE.tar.gz Or if anyone has ideas why this happens, I'd like to know:

HELP: ServerWorks data corruption after 350 MB with BerkeleyDB 4.0?
Hi, I received a bug report against BerkeleyDB 4 that may not be BerkeleyDB related, but a problem with FreeBSD or specific hardware in general. Jie Song (CC'd) reported that writing files with BerkeleyDB (no threading or something) on his ServerWorks machine causes data corruption (detected by BerkeleyDB 4.0 library functions) when the file sizes grow beyond 350 MB. For details, see PR

Hi everyone, I run to some confusion here and hope someone give me a answer before I implement it. I am trying to install samba2.05 on my AIX 4.3.1, but the binary file in the web site is for AIX 4.3.2. Can I still use the binary file for my installation on AIX 4.3.1 ? Thanks ! "Destructive" utilities
The following threads suggest that the way to reclaim memory occupied by initramfs is to remove files from it: http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&frame=right&th=c6cb846bba1a7aea&seekm=SAUO.51B.21%40gated-at.bofh.it#link1 http://seclists.org/lists/linux-kernel/2003/Dec/0707.html However, there is no way to do it using utilities provided by klibs. Could you

kinit
The "kinit" program distributed with klibc 0.153 still attempts to do a pivot_root. That doesn't work. The correct way of going into the main system is to mount --bind the root and chroot there, as done in the "run-init" program. Could you please copy that logic into "kinit"? And please fix the comment at the top - there is "/init", not

nsswitch segfaults with Samba 3.0.21 on Solaris 9
I've built Samba 3.0.21 with Kerb ADS, NSS, Winbind and PAM support on Solaris 9 using gcc 3.3.2. I'm able to compile and install and authentication works fine - I can query and authenticate with AD, but when I su, passwd or some other local auth Solaris command the command segfaults. This even happens if a valid user is in any of the databases previous in the search pattern to

DB for blacklisting thought
Hello all, I''m new to the list. But have been using Shorewall on and off for over a year now. The one thing that got me hooked on staying with Shorewall, was the extensive and useful documentation. Great Job! I see also that over use of blacklisting is time consuming for restarts, refresh and it also means the kernel spends more time checking incoming packets. The following is from:

initrd / initramfs future
Hello, I would like to know if initrd is here to stay, now that klibc and initramfs are ready. As the multipath-tools maintainer, I'm facing the choice to 1) put the multipath configuration tool in the initrd * dynamic binary is possible * storage hba drivers as modules loaded * no klibc limitations (no mntent for libsysfs ...) 2) put the multipath configuration tool in the initramfs *

Need help to install dovecot on solaris 10 with openldap libs
Hi, I install dovecot with ldap support at Solaris 10 (x86). I know that solaris LDAP is broken and so I install openldap. OpenLDAP shared libraries are at /usr/local/lib and /usr/local/include. While installing dovecot, I did the followings: I execute this before run "./configure --with-ldap" LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.2/lib -R/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.2/lib
