Macros?
Is there any way to do macros in Markdown?
Or do you have any other suggestions?
I'm thinking of a few uses.
One is to read back system stuff that might be global or session settings.
Example
Tell the user where they are coming from, time etc
You are %%USERNAME%%
Logged in at %%LOGINTIME%%
Your browser is %%HTTP{"User-Agent"}%%

how to disable homedirs?
Hi,
how can i disable the homedir?
I have a Domain login configuration, but do not want server based
profiles. After I add a workstation to the domain, the user profiles,
created during the first login of a domain user, on that machine are
always server based. Sure, I can change this profile to a local profile,
but I think I can change this it in the samba configuration, that all
profiles are

links causing dovecot endless search through user's homedirs
Hello,
My user's imap folder locations are a mess. Some have them in
/home/username/mail but a lot of them just have them in /home/username.
So I need to have dovecot's base imapdir pointed directly at the user's
homedirs.
My problem now is that a lot of users have many links in their homedirs.
Some even have circular links, such as:
/home/username/foo/foo1/foo2/foo3/foo4 ->

Problem with homedirs on sambaserver due to IE
Hi all, I could really use some hellp, first of all, a little short
description of the scenario..
The company that I am trying to help out looks like this, PDC with NT4, this
computer held both homedirs and profiles until 1-2 weeks ago. They where
then transferrer to a new server running debian (woody) and samba 2.2.3a-6.
This is my problem, IE is storing some cache-files in the homedir and with

not creating homedirs when using maildir format
Hi all,
I'm in the process of setting up dovecot, but for some reason, it's not
creating home directories if they don't already exist.
I have the following line in dovecot.conf:
default_mail_env = maildir:~/mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u
I have set permissions on /home to allow everyone full access, so creating
directories in /home by dovecot non-root processes shouldn't be a

Sporadic Homedirs lost
Hi List,
since the upgrade of a LDAP based PDC/BDC system to PDC/BDC and fileserver we
have problems with users sporadic loolsing their homedirs.
These events are unreproducible and only sporadic. Only the homedir not any of
the other shares mounted from the fileserver are subject to this connection
breakoff. The logs seem to suggest the username has been "forgotten" by the

Nis homedirs
Greetings,
I'm using 2.0.0-alpha13 on Solaris (compiling with gcc 2.8.1 on Solaris
2.5, running on 2.5, 2.5.1, and 2.6). I see this in the smb.conf.5
man page:
nis homedir (G)
Get the home share server from a NIS (or YP) map. For unix
systems that use an automounter, the user's home directory
will often be mounted on a workstation on demand from a

Double homedirs and tilde problems in case of chroot in passwd-file / static dbs.
Recently I've made the post about "double homedir" problem,
but I couldn't recreate it later. Here're the exact steps to
make it happen (configuration is at the bottom):
1) set configuration as below with passwd-files
2) clean testms dir (not necessary though)
3) reload dovecot (HUP is enough)
4) access the server with any client using testms user
(make sure no other

Hello list,
we have two samba servers on two localities with bigger distance between
them. On both localities there are organizational staff working. And I
am trying to configure homedirectories for all of staff in this way:
- all users will have same beginning part of URL path where is their
homedir located (i.e. \\files.example.com\loginname) for unification and
central acces

Bug#679533: Traffic forwarding issue between Xen domU/dom0
retitle Traffic forwarding issue between Xen domU/dom0
thanks
This week again this bug occurred again so we are trying to create some
kind of reproduce algorithm.
First we've created two virtual machines named
koekiemonster.bofh.hq.mendix.net and netappsim.bofh.hq.mendix.net. We've
added 29 vifs to koekiemonster.bofh.hq.mendix.net.
During this tests we've always had a ping

zpool fails with panic in zio_ddt_free()
Hello all,
I am not sure my original mail got through to the list
(I haven''t received it back), so I attach it below.
Anyhow, now I have a saved kernel crash dump of the system
panicking when it tries to - I believe - deferred-release
the corrupted deduped blocks which are no longer referenced
by the userdata/blockpointer tree.

Problems with copied samba userprofiles
Hello,
I have an samba/ldap BDC. If I create an user
with his homedirectory on this BDC, the winxp
clients find the path to the userprofile on this
BDC, suse clients can also login with userprofile.
If I create an user on the PDC and copy the home directory
of this user to the BDC, the clients can login at BDC,
but the userprofiles are not loaded. I thought there are
faults of unixrights,

template homedir confusion
Hi,
I have set up Samba 3.0.0 with ADS integration. It works fine, with a
workaround for a small oddity.
I use template homedirs like this:
template homedir = /home/%D/%U
On a soon-to-be-retired server running 3.0a19, I have a directory LOCAL
(as in LOCAL.DOMAIN.NAME) containing the homedirs - this works as
expected from the output of "getent passwd", which shows the homedirs of

Replication .dovecot-sync.lock
Hello all,
I have set up two servers with dovecot and replication. The mail location is
mail_location = sdbox:/var/spool/mail/%u
Everything works fine when I override the homedirectories
userdb {
driver = passwd
override_fields = home=/var/spool/mail/%u
}
But, when I do not override the homedirectories, replication does not work,
and the following error is logged:

windbind, 'template homedir', and macros
I am currently using Mssfu, nss_ldap, and pam_ldap to enable my linux boxes
to auth against MsA.D. and get all their user info from MsA.D.
I recently discovered that winbind can accomplish the same without
Mssfu, as long as I'm content to be limitted by the winbind config
directives 'template shell' and 'template homedir'. I'd like to drop
sfu if I can.
The 'template

Thank you for the config file snippets. I can confirm mine were almost identical, so I've tweaked them so that they are now exactly the same as yours except for the "--require-membership-of=example\authorization_groupname" line in ntlm_auth.
Unfortunately it's still erroring out:

sudo + pam_lastlog causes user to appear logged out in logs.
Hi, this was originally reported on ports@. [1] Someone noticed that
after after running sudo their session disappeared when running `w`
afterwards. I've done a little experimenting and this is caused when
pam_lastlog.so is included in sudo's pam file. This results in the user
still being logged in though according to the system logs the user has
logged out. Here's an example:
