Samba fc3: accent problem
I am unable to properly view ISO8859-15 characters (typicaly characters
with accent such as ?, ?, ?...) from filenames on a samba server using
fedora core 3. After spending hours on it, I have been unable to find a
solution. Any help from you would be greatly appreciated.
Here is the description of my configuration:

CPU 99.3%:

We're having the same problems as many others with print queues, client lock-ups, etc. I think
maybe this CPU problem is related as we have two servers in two locations with the same versions,
and both had the problem immediately after upgrading to 3.0.10. We use the YUM facility to
upgrade Samba. To react to these

Can connect directly, but not browse samba server from Windows Workgroup network
Dear Samba gurus,
I have a Fedora 8 linux server, running samba 3.0.28a-0.fc8. I am
doing the simplest thing of all - exposing a public read-only share
within MS Workgroup environment. My server has a fixed local IP
address (192.168.1.200) and it's on the same subnet as the rest of the
machines. The server and machines are connected to a 24 port CISCO
switch.
My problem is that I can

"Distribution" of filespace
Hi,
I have the following problem: there are many seldom used machines in our
workgroup with a lot of filespace unused (running NT Workstation). Is there
a possibility to mount shares from this machines on a linux server and then
"redistribute" this filespace to other machines? First I tried to use the
Microsoft DFS-Service to collect the shares and then mount the DFS-share via

Jumping from FC2
Some time ago I installed FC2 at the request of an employer.
That contract ended over a year ago, and FC2 is an orphan.
I am gradually feeling more pressure to jump from FC2, and
do not wish to remain with the Fedora Core Project, as I
don't want to make installing and upgrading my machine into
a hobby. I already maintain a Debian machine for my girlfriend,
but I'm not sure I wish make

how to test timeouts? that #returns deprecation again...
I''m writing quite a few specs lately that use Ruby''s Timeout::timeout
functionality, making sure that timeout errors are properly handled
and everything flows right when some command line tools timeout. I
like being able to use Mocha''s #returns right now to force a method to
raise a TimeoutError, but I know that usage is going away at some
point. I''d like to

NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE error message
Hello, all. I'm running into an issue connecting from my PowerMac G4
running Yellow Dog 4.0.1 to our server, which is a dual AMD running Fedora
Core 2. The server is running samba version 3.0.10-1.fc2, and the g4 is

I can connect from the g4 anonymously to a share point on localhost:

Hello:
We have a Fedora Core 2 (FC2) server with Dovecot and Procmail. Versions
are:

If I receive an e-mail, is stored at "new" folder. When I try to get

Kernel Oplocks and FC2
Hi All,
I am running Samba version 3.0.7-2.FC2.
I've been noticing the following messages in /var/log/messages:
Sep 22 09:35:47 www kernel: lease broken - owner pid = 6024
Sep 22 09:36:32 www kernel: lease broken - owner pid = 25134
I've been told that if I place "kernel oplocks = false" in my
smb.conf file, I won't see this message any more.
However, if I do this, does

FC2 RPMs of wine
I was reading the WINE Traffic #245 and so I thought about trying the RPMs
that Vincent produces for FC2. Before I installed them I looked at the file
contents and noticed that there does not seem to be a "fake windows" drive
setup in the RPM and that the Windows User tools like Notepad and Control are
not in the RPM. Is there another RPM that I need to get to install these
tools?

dependency help for FC2 rpm
I am having difficulty with dependencies for the R rpm for Fedora Core 2.
In attempting to load R-2.0.0.0.fdr.1.fc2.i386.rpm it fails the
libtk8.4.so dependency even though I have this library loaded. The
library is located in: /usr/local/lib.
How might I tell R where to find this library? I am new to Linux and
loading rpms so I am hoping there is a simple answer and that the

Installing Wine in FC2-Athlon
Hi Friends,
I have a problem with my Wine Installation in
FC2-Athlon.
I was following the PDF File - Configuring Wine
Chapter 5 and it says that the "config" file is in
~/.wine/config.
I can find the "config" file in the /etc/wine/config.
Can you enlighten me on this?
Actually, I can run already the "wine winmine.exe" and
"wine notepad.exe"

FC1 and FC2 RPMs now available
I have made my first run at building FC1 and FC2 rpms for Asterisk
1.0.0. These are based off of Greg's spec files which a few minor
changes. Source and binary RPMs are available at:
ftp://asterisk.purplehat.net/pub/asterisk/
Please report any problems with these files to myself and not Greg as he
has nothing to do with these builds. :)
Sorry these took so long; it was a wild week at

Permission denied after upgrade to FC2
Well, after hearing nothing, and being irritated
enough with this problem, I did some exhaustive
googling and turned up with this:
http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/2004-June/msg00769.html
Apparently there are now 2 security policy changes you
must make on a 2003 dc instead of just the one like
before.
Once I had our Win Admin make the change, I was able
to smbmount everything again.
