Joining a domain with a non-administrator account
I'm trying to set it up so I can join the domain with a regular user that is part of the domain admin group. I have a user dsonenberg that is in the domain admin group(512), but I can't join the domain with that account. For the record I can login with that account and Administrator can join the domain. The PDC has an LDAP backend. Here's the log. 2005/02/08 10:26:25, 2]

Trouble joining domain at BDC site
I have no trouble joining the domain in our main office(samba PDC) or a branch office(samba BDC) but for some reason I can't join the domain at the branch office 2(also samba BDC) All three offices are running 3.0.11 and the 2 branch offices have identical configurations, aside from ip address'. The message I get from Windows XP is: The following error occured attempting to join the

Load Balancing over multiple NICS
I was currious about setting up load balancing for my company fileserver. This machine get's heavy usage and we would like to load balance the traffic over two 1 Gigabit NICS. How would this be best accomplished? Should we set up a firewall rules that will NAT for that machine or does samba have a built in mechinism? -- David Sonenberg Systems / Network Administrator Stroz Friedberg,

ACL Question [Repost]
OK so I've got samba-3.0.11 compiled with ACL support. I've running 2.4.25 with the ACL/ATTR patch applied. I can read and set ACLS's using the getfacl/setfacl programs. ldd /usr/sbin/smbd shows it's linked to libattr.so.1 and libacl.so.1. I can read ACL with the smbcacls program, but when I try to set them I get: ERROR: Unable to open credentials file! Also from the

PDC groupmapping problem
I'm trying to iron out all the problems on my PDC. It's setup with a LDAP backend that's replicated to an ldap slave/BDC. PDC + LDAP group mappings
Alright now that samba can talk to LDAP I have a blank slate. I know I need to setup group mappings, but I'm a little confused about this. Since it's an ldap backend do the groups need to have unix counterparts? Should I use the net groupmap command to add the mappings or should I use an LDIF file? When I run net add groupmap rid=512 ntgroup="Domain Admins" UNIXgroup="ntadmins" i get this error: adding entry for group Domain Admins failed! The error isn't very specific and the log doesn't show any error. I look in the log (log level -1 in slapd.conf) and I can tell it is able to search. I can post the syslog if you need it. Samba LDAP PDC Admin and other minor problems.
So I've got my PDC LDAP up and running and replicating over to the slave BDC, and I'm just trying to fix some minor problems. I've added my self to the "Domain Admins" group but I still can't open the windows usrmgr program with my account. I even set it up so my default group is "Domain Admins" I can open it with the administrator account, but I

net rpc vampire is sucking my brain!
Trying to migrate NT4 to samba 3.0.0 or 3.0.1pre3 with an ldap backend. I add a backup server account to the domain and joined. Getting the SID and the ldap init seem to work, and I start windbind. When I run net rpc vampire all I get is a ton of "Could not create posix account info for " errors. Then ofcourse pdbedit -L returns smbldap_search_suffix: Problem during the LDAP search:

LDAP for Virtual Domains
Is anyone using LDAP along with Dovecot where mail is being accessed in the form of /var/vmail/${domain}/${user}? I have not figured out how to extract the domain from LDAP in order to make this work. I know this is sparse information but maybe there is an easy fix. If not, I can post more information. Bryan
