[Fwd: mounting as a regular user]
Thank you for the reply Joe. Which smb.conf files would you want to see? I am trying to mount shares from 2 FreeBSD, 1 RH9 (linux) and 2 Windows servers to a directory structure on my system. To give an idea my mount script is as follows (with some info removed): # Smeagol (FreeBSD Domain Controler/Profile Server) # mount -t smbfs -o username=$user, password=$pass,ro //smeagol/home-dir$

Roaming Profiles under LDAP backend
Hi, To this point I have been careful about mixing Win2K and WinXP profiles when using samba as a PDC/Profile server. Settings I have used have been like the following... logon path = \\%L\profiles\%u\%m (in smb.conf) with a typical profile directory as follows... drwx------ 14 test wheel 512 Mar 14 11:32 Win2K drwx------ 17 test wheel 512 Oct 27 18:22 WinXP lrwxr-xr-x 1 test

journal aborting and remounting /boot as ro
Hi, Apologies in advance for any breaches of netiquette, I couldn't find any guidelines about submission to this forum but I'd be grateful for your help on something. My /boot filesystem is being remounted shortly after start-up as read-only. I get the following messages... journal_bmap_Ra7a5f568: journal block not found at offset 12 on ide0(3,1) Aborting journal on device ide0(3,1)

fstab, unusual behavior of "missing UUID"
I have the following as the last line of my /etc/fstab file on a computer running CentOS6.4.. UUID=3b550884-8d05-41a5-a205-17b6d7269dd1 /mnt ext3 rw,suid, dev, exec, noauto, nouser, async 0 2 The UUID refers to an ext3 partition of a removable USB drive. If the USB drive is not plugged into the computer the computer will not boot. It seems that this is the incorrect behavior since

chmod g+w on directory causes script not to execute anymore
I am experiencing the strangest problem. Performing `chmod g+w` on a directory causes a script inside it not to execute anymore. I'm lost. The reason I am mailing to the ext3 list is I use ext3 on the partition where the problem arise. And that I have concluded that it probably is the ext3 file system that give this unusual behaviour.... But I am an error prone person so... it might be

Questions on fs mounting
Hi, I have some questions concerning mounted fs on a linux system. I run redhat linux 7.3 on my laptop, and when I hook it up to a desktop Windows 2000 Pro machine, I usually mount (part of) the Windows directories onto my linux dir tree (say, it is to /mnt/samba). I use the following command: mount /mnt/samba to mount the filesystem (file /usr/bin/smbmount has suid root, so I can do

fstab mounting
Hi there... I want to mount a windows share automatically in fstab but I get an error When I try: mount -t smbfs //MSWinSMBServer/share /mnt/share, it works, and even when I pass options like, mount -t smbfs -o username=bcochofel, workgroup=COCHOFEL,uid=bcochofel, gid=users then, when asked, I type password... The problem is when I do this in my fstab... here's the line: //MSWinSMBServer

Announcing EXT2FS lib for syslinux
Here is the initial release: git://github.com/donhiatt/Syslinux-EXT2FS-Library-port.git I am very new to git so I hope I managed to get the repo setup properly. The repo is branched from 'disklib' as I plan to use it for all disk read/write access (I'm currently using modified gpllib/disk/* -- see README). Cheers, don ----- README for ext2fs module. * Description -----------

Overlay of barchart and xyplot
Hello R Folks, I am new to R. I have been struggling to overlay a barchart with a xyplot together on one plot but did not get this worked out. Any help and idea are greatly appreciated. I attached R scripts for barchart and xyplot below and also data I used. What I am trying to do is just to put the barchart and xyplot together on one plot. Huapeng <<dispersal_infestation.csv>>

short read while checking ext3 journal
My UPS failed and my server took an 'unscheduled outage' a few weeks ago. The only casualty appears to be a volume I used for backup. I usually maintain data on multiple hard disks, but in this case I errantly had some data (of marginal value) on this file system. At this point, the data is not worth enough for me to send the drive out for data recovery, but it's worth enough to
