To clarify this whole thing for me please tell me: if you have ldap and samba configured together do you still need to have local accounts in /etc/passwd in order to use smbpasswd or pdbedit utility? Hi, On a Fedora box we installed Samba 3.0.8pre1-0.pre1.3 Accidently we've removed the samba password file. Now, we can't get access to Samba anymore. Is there a way to re-create it ? Or do we have to reinstall Samba ? BTW: We have no backup .... cheers, Andy

Hi, I've tried "smbldap-migrate-unix-accounts" to migrate NIS account into LDAP. It is a great tool. There is no problem if he/she authenticate from Linux machine with his old NIS account. I'm trying to install "pam_ldap" on my fedora core 1 machine. It is asking for liblber.so and libldap.so dependencies even though I have them in /usr/lib.
