Trouble joining domain at BDC site
I have no trouble joining the domain in our main office(samba PDC) or a branch office(samba BDC) but for some reason I can't join the domain at the branch office 2(also samba BDC) All three offices are running 3.0.11 and the 2 branch offices have identical configurations, aside from ip address'. The message I get from Windows XP is: The following error occured attempting to join the

Joining a domain with a non-administrator account
I'm trying to set it up so I can join the domain with a regular user that is part of the domain admin group. I have a user dsonenberg that is in the domain admin group(512), but I can't join the domain with that account. For the record I can login with that account and Administrator can join the domain. The PDC has an LDAP backend. Here's the log. 2005/02/08 10:26:25, 2]

Load Balancing over multiple NICS
I was currious about setting up load balancing for my company fileserver. This machine get's heavy usage and we would like to load balance the traffic over two 1 Gigabit NICS. How would this be best accomplished? Should we set up a firewall rules that will NAT for that machine or does samba have a built in mechinism? -- David Sonenberg Systems / Network Administrator Stroz Friedberg,

Openldap + Samba 3 PDC
I'm trying to get Samba up but I can't seem to get the LDAP connection working correctly. I can run a search from ldapsearch, but samba is complaining that it can't connect. PDC groupmapping problem
I'm trying to iron out all the problems on my PDC. It's setup with a LDAP backend that's replicated to an ldap slave/BDC. ACL Question [Repost]
OK so I've got samba-3.0.11 compiled with ACL support. I've running 2.4.25 with the ACL/ATTR patch applied. I can read and set ACLS's using the getfacl/setfacl programs. ldd /usr/sbin/smbd shows it's linked to libattr.so.1 and libacl.so.1. I can read ACL with the smbcacls program, but when I try to set them I get: ERROR: Unable to open credentials file! Also from the

win2k/xp crashes after logon to PDC
Very strange on my desktop(win2k) I don't get this problem but on other workstations both win2k and winxp I get this. After logging on to the Domain a windows labelled 'Sas Window: winlogon.exe - Application Error' pops up with the following message: The instruction at "0x00650076" referenced memory at "0x00650076" The memory could no be "read" I

Samba LDAP PDC Admin and other minor problems.
So I've got my PDC LDAP up and running and replicating over to the slave BDC, and I'm just trying to fix some minor problems. I've added my self to the "Domain Admins" group but I still can't open the windows usrmgr program with my account. I even set it up so my default group is "Domain Admins" I can open it with the administrator account, but I

windbind stopped working
I recently upgraded my PDC's and BDC's to 3.0.14a but my member servers are still running 3.0.10. Today users complained that the couldn't logon to the member server. Can't connect to new domain
I'm trying to set up a second domain(on a physically separated network) at my office but I'm running into a road block. I've got the PDC, and LDAP setup up but can't seem to connect. I suspect it's something with either nss_ldap or pam but I can't track it down. Since I've already posted this elsewhere, with no response, here's the links to the details(from

Share Level Quotas
To start out, I'm running 3.0.11 domain member server (samba PDC/BDC) with winbind. I would like to be able to apply size limits to shares. I know this is usually done with unix quotas, but I don't want to limit the quotas by user or group just by the share. I saw the 'max disk size' directive, but it looks like this won't be enforced, it will just report it to the client.

PDC + LDAP group mappings
Alright now that samba can talk to LDAP I have a blank slate. I know I need to setup group mappings, but I'm a little confused about this. Since it's an ldap backend do the groups need to have unix counterparts? Should I use the net groupmap command to add the mappings or should I use an LDIF file? I'm trying to set up my LDAP in preparation to configure my Samba PDC. In the Official Samba-3 HOWTO and Reference Guide it give instructions on howto setup slapd.conf (section 10.4.4.3) After modifying the file it instructs to run /sbin/splapindex -f /splapd.conf When I run this I get the following error: /etc/openldap/schema/samba.schema: line 423: AttributeType not found:

issues with 3.0.14a domain member after 2003 dc upgrade
Hello list, Recently I've rebuilt our Windows 2000 DCs to Windows 2003 SP1 DCs that my 3.0.14a, mit-krb5-1.3.6, openldap-2.1.30 Gentoo box is a part of. Since then, on the Samba box I can getent group, getent passwd, wbinfo -t, wbinfo -g, wbinfo -u, etc. properly but anyone who accesses the shares on the Samba member server gets prompted for a password. The logs are as follows:
