SMB Signing issues... smbclient works, mount does not...
Hi All,
I seem to have exactly the same problem which was described in this thread a
while ago. I have gone through every piece of information I was able to find
on mailing list archives but all I found was people reporting similar
problems and not a solution to it.
As in the original discussion if I use smbclient it works fine but if I use
mount.cifs it does not work at all. To make smbclient

Urgent Samba / Squid NTLM Auth Problems
Hi,
We are having problems setting up a squid cache server to use NTLMv2
authentication to authenticate users against AD.
We have narrowed the problems down to being a problem between samba and
squid when using NTLMv2. It constantly moans about the password being wrong
when using squid, but doing a direct samba auth works fine. We have
(believedly) narrowed it down to this: the domain requires

mount.smbfs and NTLMv2
Hello,
context: Samba-3.0.2 on a i386 debian-sarge linux, 2.4 kernel.
All the windows machine on our network switched today to NTLMv2, and
mount.smbfs can't access anymore ressources which are available to
smbclient.
Exerpt from smb.conf:
client NTLMv2 auth = Yes
client lanman auth = No
client plaintext auth = No
The rest being default.

NT_STATUS_TRUSTED_RELATIONSHIP_FAILURE with Server 2008R2
I am having problems implementing Samba using security=domain against a
Windows 2008R2 server.
I have been able to successfully join the domain via a net rpc join.
Anytime I try to access a share through smbclient I get a
NT_STATUS_TRUSTED_RELATIONSHIP_FAILURE but nothing in the logs (on
either side) seems to be giving me any leads on where to look. The
system is locked down to allow NTLv2

NTLMSSP Sign/Seal - using NTLM1
Hello,
We have a customer that is using Samba version 4.7.12 and Windows 10
clients. When they initiate connections, they are very slow to authenticate
(several minutes). It does not readily appear there are network
connectivity issues.
Of possible note, the following log sequence is, repeatedly, observed
within the Samba debug logs:

AD integration issues
Hello,
I have a CentOS 7 system configured as a samba server using ADS
security. I am able to get users to login from PC's that are part of
the AD domain but users coming from systems that are not part of the
AD domain are not able to access the smb shares. Here is more

winbindd authentication fails with NT_STATUS_RPC_SEC_PKG_ERROR intermittently
Hi,
I recently upgraded a smb server from Ubuntu 18.04 to Ubuntu 20.04 which
required the Samba version to be upgraded from 4.7.6 to 4.15.13.
Post the upgrade, winbind authentication fails
with NT_STATUS_RPC_SEC_PKG_ERROR intermittently. The error goes away on
restarting the smb service but comes back after some time. There were no
isses with the setup before the upgrade.
Tried clearing the

samba>=3.0.4 - no more smbpasswd ? no more local auth when joined to domain ?
I just hope that this time I get heard since obviously nobody reads
news://linux.samba ...
Platform: SuSE-9.1, kernel-2.6.5, samba-3.0.4
I have recently upgraded from 3.0.2a to 3.0.4 and I have just noticed
that using the same smb.conf as with previous version, the system just
does not work anymore for me !
Furthermore, smbpasswd utility appears to be dropped !
Afterwards, I have noticed

Using ntlm_auth with a non-Squid application
Hello
my goal is to write an authentication module for the Symfony php framework, which would provide SSO capabilities to browsers that are logged in an MS AD domain
and support the NTLMv2 protocol. Ideally this module would run on linux servers, and be portable, i.e. require as few non-php tools and network/firewall
settings as possible (that's why I eschewed the existing Apache modules

I'm using samba-4.7.x
I have some confusions over "map to guest=" options with setting SMB Signing
1. Set "*Server signing =auto*", "*map to guest=bad uid*" and set "client
signing in windows 2k12 server group policy" to "Microsoft network client:
Digitally sign communications (Always)” = *Disable*"

Then it is the old password, and you have other issues you need to sort

SMB 3.0 & W2003: cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory ...
Hi!
I'm trying to connect to a share on a Windows 2003 server with samba
3.0.0. I have edited smb.conf as was instructed in chapter 7 of the
Samba-HOWTO-Collection to include the following:
client use spnego = yes
When I try to connect to the server, I get the following error:
cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have disabled it
