Time Delay Estimation
Here's a question that may seem strange. Does the echo canceller maintain some data structure that I might be able to use if I wanted to estimate the amount of delay between the near-end and far-end signals? I'd like to be able to do this in order to optimally align the signals before passing them to the canceller. There seem to be many milliseconds of latency in a Wintel audio subsystem

Exporting local policies on several computers
Hello everyone, Not really a Samba problem, but I hope someone can help me : I am doing some tests for integrating XP clients on Samba 3.02 with LDAP backend. I have tried this on a test machine on which I have applied local policies withthe gpedit.msc console (ie : Delete the roaming profiles or hide the logon scripts...) and this work perfectly. Now I'd like to do the same on other

A chinese R-info page and a question
Dear R community, I wrote and someone else helped me type a 5-page R-info in Chinese, covering the most basic information on how to get and install and start using R on Wintel PC. This could serve those not fluent in/intimidated by English but want to start using R. (I met a lot of those in China) <http://www.ms.uky.edu/~mai/ZhongWen.htm> also a MSword version of the same (may print

Samba & Tivoli Storage Mgr (TSM) Integration Query ???
All, Can anyone confirm that Samba/Solaris will integrate with TSM (Tivoli Storage Manager) when deployed into a Wintel client environment. ie. Solaris/Samba as a TSM client - we need to be sure that the ACL's will be maintained correctly via a TSM backup/restore (full or partial) Or confirm this does not work, which is not what we want to hear - but the truth will suffice. Many thanks,

what is rw0641sp.zip ?
Hi, everyone, I was downloading the rm0641b.zip etc. (thanks to Guido Masarotto and Brian Ripley) I noticed rw0641sp.zip there, which do not seem mentioned in the News file. My guess is that it is not a binary file? Is is a source patch file(?) for compiling on Wintel PC? New UEFI restrictions?
Previously I've been using a laptop with an "Aptio Setup Utility...2015" to "Disable UEFI Boot" and allow a USBstik with partition1 having: /boot/isolinux/isolinux.bin , isolinux.cfg , menu.c32...etc. to boot 64bit TinyCore. Now this newer laptop has: "Aptio Setup Utility...2018" which is completely different from the 2015 version. I fail to boot linux from

Real-time JSpeex coding
Hi, Is real-time possible with the current java-based JSpeex for real-time full duplex voice communication? If yes, can you please also provide some details of the Wintel (Windows on Intel) specifications that you have used to achieve that, and perhaps the JSpeex encoding/decoding specs used? Thanks. Should I upgrade Samba 3.6 to Samba 4.1
Hi, I just installed Samba on my Centos 6.4 computer. Smbstatus says my version is 3.6.9-151.el6-4.1. My smb.conf file only has a [global] and [homes] section. My configuration works, as expected, from a Win7 Virtual Box computer and a Win8 Virtual Box computer. I can see the share from the Windows file explorer and can map the share to a network drive. The Samba server is not virtual.

Time Delay Estimation
Aha. By "frames" I assume you mean 10ms or 20ms or whatever I have passed as frame_size to speex_echo_state_init. Correct? (I suppose I could go to a smaller frame size if desiring finer precision.) I gather that prop[] contains proportional adaptation rates. I guess I'll have to read up on the MDF algorithm to get a better sense of what that means. Thanks -----Original

Winbind problem with more details.
Everyone, One of our developers was kind enough to insert some bug checking into the mod_auth_pam and mod_auth_sys_group so that we could see a little more of what was going on with our authentication failures. Here is what we just saw. Two of our users NA\connelmp and NA\guminssa both started getting messages that they were not part of the required group. Here is the log for
