NIS as user authentication
Hi all, I believe that I have asked this in one form or another, but I did not see an answer. ( it could be that I missed it ) do please forgive me if I did, but could I ask you all to humor me for a moment. Is there any way to get Samba to use YP ( NIS ) as the basis for user authentication? If not at this time ( as I have not been able to determine that it is

List members, I have an issue that I hope one of you can help me with ... I have set up a AD ( 2003 ) as PDC and a RHE3 AS server running Samba V3.0.6-2.3E following the instructions in the HOW-TO- By example. Here is what I have at the moment .. I had no problems adding the RH server to the Domain and I have Winbind set up in the nsswitch.conf file for passwd, group and hosts I

2 Asterisk servers (IAX) behind one firewall
Here's a good one for the group, I have 2 Ast servers behind a NAT (Sonicwall :-( ) connecting to the same server outside the NAT. Each of the 2 boxes behind register to the outside server. What I am wondering is, would there be a problem if both servers behind the NAT were listening on port 4569, I realized that the NAT'd port gets changed however I wasn't sure if this would be an

I have a rather strange and urgent problem. Last evening I installed a Sonicwall firewall between the Internet and office LAN. The only change that I know of for the LAN workstations was that the gateway is now 192.168.0.1 instead of 192.168.0.2. All workstations: Windows, Linux and Mac use DHCP and the AD/DC is the DHCP server, so I wouldn't think that mattered. All Windows workstations work

malformed broadcast packets ?
Hello All, I recently upgraded to Redhat AS3 from an older 7.3 installation. With samba 3 (3.0.2-6.3E is the rpm version), I've been seeing activity that wasn't present before. Every 15 minutes (within a few seconds accuracy), I receive an alert from our SonicWall (firewall appliance) reporting that a "Malformed IP packet dropped." where the source was the upgraded server, and

You are better off using NAT/qualify in your sip.conf. -Do not use SonicOS Standard (all new Sonicwalls should come with = Enhanced now anyway) as there is no method to increase the timeout for = UDP rules,

VPN-Clients
There is a SonicWall Pro 2040 to which I successfully established a VPN tunnel under Windows XP using SonicWall VPN client. Now, I'm looking for a way to establish a VPN tunnel to the same SonicWall device under Linux. Installing the SonicWall VPN client under wine 0.9.27 failed ans as far as I understand a posting of 2006 it's doubtful if this type of software will ever be installable
