cron jobs fail to run
hey centos
long time no hear! :) I'm having a small issue where the backup jobs
that I set to run in the crontab of the backup user do not appear to
be running. Here's how I set it up (with crontab -e as the backup
user):
run amanda every night (check at 2:45 and backup at 3)
45 2 * * * /usr/sbin/amcheck /var/log/amanda/crontab/amcheck.log
* 3 * * * /usr/sbin/amdump

smbclient and XP
(of course I'm working through all of this as I type this note, and I
did resolve it, I'm sending it on anyway so that others might benefit).
Greetings,
I am relatively new to samba.

Trying to get Amanda to back up an XP client via smb. (XP SP1). (yes,
our environment is a wild mix of hardware and OS - typical consulting
shop).

Using Amanda + Samba to backup NT4 servers?
Hi all,
Has anyone used amanda in combination with samba to back up an NT4 server
system?
I'm able to connect to the server with both smbclient and smbtar on the
command line, but I can't get amanda to connect. Supposedly amanda uses
smbclient and smbtar to perform the backups.
I'm continually getting the following error from amcheck:
ERROR: amanda: [PC SHARE //servername/share

FUTEX_WAIT 3.0.23a [Fwd: Re: amanda-2.5.0p2 hanging on smbclient with configure]
Would anyone have any ideas with smbclient sits at FUTEX_WAIT in below
message?
Typing:
strace smbclient -d 5
shows it sitting at:
futex(0x2aaaabdf2dc0, FUTEX_WAIT, 2, NU.
SUSE 9.3 x86_64, Samba RPMS from main Samba site

Multiple imputations : wicked dataset ? Wicked computers ? Am I cursed ? (or stupid ?)
Dear list,
I'd like to use multiple imputations to try and save a somewhat badly
mangled dataset (lousy data collection, worse than lousy monitoring, you
know that drill... especially when I am consulted for the first time
about one year *after* data collection).
My dataset has 231 observations of 53 variables, of which only a very
few has no missing data. Most variables have 5-10% of

External HDD query
Greetings,
I have a USB external 2TB HDD with one NTFS partition which is to be
used for backup up from about 5-8 workstations (all Win*) all are shut
down when the office is closed
I am playing around with Amanda server on Centos 5.7.
(It is over 3 years since I last implemented Amanda for about 50
workstations mostly Fedora and couple of XP boxes -- it sang and
danced quite nicely.)
Now the

smbclient (Samba 4.9.4) "Unable to initialize messaging context"?
Sambadevs,
I don't know if this is a bug or just a spurious error message when using
smbclient (on a standalone config), but checking smbclient, I get:

RHEL 5.4 Beta Package Changes

or kvm package is not added. even though it was said that 5.4 will
support kvm?:-(
