problem adding an user as non-Manager with smbldap-tools
Hello, at first please excuse my poor english. I did my Samba-OpenLDAP-PDC configuration as described in "The Linux Samba-OpenLDAP Howto (Revision 1.6)". I took Fedora Core 1 and it works. The same configuration (e.g. ACLs in slapd.conf) does not work with my "self-compiled" Samba- OpenLDAP-PDC at Debian I am using Debian (woody), kernel 2.4.27-pre2. I compiled - Berkley DB

Password sync
Hi all, I have configured two samba-3.0.4 (PDC and BDC) with ldap (openldap). My problem is that we have a third ldap in my company and I changed the source of smbldap from idealx to sync that ldap. I did a debug and samba calls the script in the right way, but, this is the weird stuff, the script sync my two openldap servers but do not sync the third ldap. Running the script by hand it works

master.password instead of LDAP database.
Good day. Help me please to solve my problem to login a user to samba domain. Samba accepts user authorisation only if a user account exists both in master.password and LDAP database. Note that uid and gid are taken from master.password instead of LDAP database. Why? my smb.cf [global] dos charset = CP866 unix charset = KOI8-R workgroup = FISH server string = Samba Server passdb backend

Syncing password change across NT4 and AD domains
Hello, Thanks to the assistance from Samba devs, I managed to upgrade existing Samba 3 (NT4) domain to Samba 4 (they are co-existing in the same network, while services/computers are being migrated to AD). migrate existing Unix password to sambapassword
Hello -- Our existing Unix system has more than 500 users. The system currently uses OpenLDAP to authenticate users. We just added dozens of PCs running Windows to the network. We are going to set up the existing Unix server as a samba PDC server such that the users can log onto either their Unix account or Windows account. It seems a good idea to allow the users have the same password for

ldap password sync and RFC2307 hash schemes
