Member server won't authenticate against Samba BDC
For the last few years, we have had a NT4 PDC (without a BDC). This week I undertook the process of builing a Samba BDC running Debian linux. This new BDC is running samba version 3.0.7. After setting up the box, I copied all of the user, group, and machine accounts over to the new bdc, using "net rpc vampire". The BDC is up and running and I see everybody authenticating against it.

Hi all ! This is a patch for Group mapping bug #1 reported here : http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2004-January/034057.html It activates users' primary group SID update when adding/modifying/deleting a group mapping. Hi there, I'm trying to import a smbpasswd-file into a Samba 3.0 installation on Debian Sarge using tdbsam as sole passdb backend. Copying pdbedit's documentation I used pdbedit -i smbpasswd:/root/smbpasswd.old The error message returned was tdb_update_sam: Failing to store a SAM_ACCOUNT for [foo] without a primary group RID where foo is the username to be imported. This message was

Failing to store a SAM_ACCOUNT for [root] without a primary group RID
OK. I've given up on using the 'net vampire' feature to suck our NT4 info. Now I want to start afresh. I've set the smb.conf file up, and run the script I found in the HTML docs to map common Windows Domain groups to unix groups. This worked OK. Now I want to create a root account so I can actually join the domain from a Windows 2000 client. When I run:

Root user problems with Samba 3.0.0beta1
Hello Anytime I try to do anything with the root user (like join the domain) or run 'net user' or 'net group' with root, when I enter the correct password, I get NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL .... I've been trying more commands, and if I run tdbedit -e=tdbsam (to export the smbpasswd to tdbsam style), I get this error : tdb_update_sam: Failing to store a SAM_ACCOUNT for [root]

Google AdSense
Hi all, I'm thinking of possibly trying out Google AdSense on the syslinux web pages. Before doing so, however, I'd like to hear: a) Would anyone object to such a move? (And if so, why?) b) Does anyone have good/bad experiences with AdSense that they would like to share? -hpa

Importing accounts from NT4 domain with Vampire
Hi I have folowed this guide http://www.enterprisenetworkingplanet.com/netos/article.php/3457461 to import users from my NT4 domain to a debian sarge with samba 3.0.14a Everything runs fine till the net rpc vampire command, some users give an error others are imported fine. I don't see any problem on this users configuration in the NT4 server, here is part of the output: thanks.
