sambaldap tools
Hi samba admins,
I don?t know is this the right place for my question,
but I can?t find a list for my problem.
I have some trobble to configure the smbldap-tools.
I have download and copy the scripts to /usr/local/sbin.
But a /usr/local/sbin/smbldap-useradd.pl testuser breaks
with this error message:
get_user_dn2: error in ldapsearch :

Protocol negotation failed
Hi all,
I've compiled 3.0.7 on a test box which also has an LDAP server running on it.
This is the first time for me trying to use Samba with LDAP. I copied the
IdealX scripts into /usr/local/sbin and edited the _config.pm file. It is
attached at the bottom, stripped of comments. I then edited my smb.conf to
the effect of the following:
passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://localhost

Why can't I get the groups to work correctly, I do have a 'Computers'

samba ldap bind problems.
I have a solaris 9 box that I am configuring to be a PDC using the
latest version of samba authenticating off of an Openldap db.
This machine uses the same ldap server to authenticate the unix users
but after following documentation for setting up samba/ldap PDC.
Using smbldap-populate populated the database with no problems but when
I try and run
smblclient -L master

can't join domain / smbldap-useradd -w machine not working
Hello,
I'm trying to set up Samba + OpenLDAP as a PDC.
I followed the instructions from chapter 6 in Samba-3 by Example, my
system is SuSE 9.1.
ldap, winbind, nmb and smb are running.
testparm says my smb.conf file is OK.
I set LDAP password using smbpasswd -w.
There was a similar post a few days ago (smbldap-tools don't create
machine account properly), but it didn't help me.

Migration NT4 PDC to Smb3/LDAP/TOOLS: A Success Procedure
Greetings,
After a few weeks trying, I figured out how to migrate from NT4 PDC to
Samba-3/LDAP/SMBLDAP-TOOLS, at least in my case.
I will just explain my setup and my understanding why it works and why
it fails. I hope it is helpful to others who are in the same situation as I
was.
Basic Setup:
    OS: Fedora-2 (FC2)
    samba-3.0.3 that comes with FC2.
    openldap-2.1.29 that comes

Logon Script not executing upon login
Hi,
I am trying to execute a logon script when a user access the domain. For
some reason the following is not executing. I don't want to enable
roaming profiles so I have set 'logon home' and logon path' to null - I
thought perhaps that this was causing a problem; but it hasn't made a
difference. I also verified that my logon.bat is a DOS formatted file.
Here's my

Since I want to work with daytime (i.e. from dawn till dusk) and night time (i.e. from dusk till next dawn), I have to split act in two: from time[i] till dusk and from dusk until time[i+1], and from time[k] till

I deleted the following options from the smb.conf
#ldap user suffix = ou=People
#ldap machine suffix = ou=Computers
But I left the options set in my smbldap.conf.
