winbindd will not connect to samba pdc
I'm trying to migrate to a Samba PDC from an NT PDC. Right now I'm testing whether a Samba member server can effectively grab user account info from a Samba PDC. Both the PDC and the member server are vanilla, no-frills Redhat 9 machines, the PDC is running Samba 3.0.9 and the member is running 3.0.11. I've followed the instructions in the Samba HOWTO for setting up winbindd, that

Using winbindd against Samba PDC doesn't work
I set up a RH9/Samba 3.0.9 machine as a member server. The PDC was an NT server. I configured and ran winbindd and it grabbed all the user info. wbinfo functioned correctly for all the arguments that I tried. I then setup a FBSD4.10/Samba 3.0.9 as a PDC for a different domain, and set up the Linux box as a member server of the new domain. The Linux box joined the domain (or so it said) and I

Snap server in Samba PDC domain
I've trawled the Archives for assistance with this problem, but all the threads I've found petter out without a solution being posted. We have a Samba 2.2.1a server as a PDC for our network of NT4 and 98 machines. They all get along fine. We have roaming profiles established so people can move around. All no problem. We have a Quantum Snap 2000 server that has all our working

Snap to grid for Draggables
Heya, Following an idea from Saimon (http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/ 2826) and Borlum (http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/2583) and possibly others, script.aculo.us Draggables now sport a new "snap" option that works like this: snap:25 snap to a 25x25 grid (0,0 is at the elements 0,0 coordinate) snap:[10,25] same as above but with different x/y grid size snap:function(x,y) {

Samba on Snap
Hi, We have a snap server 4400 which is running Samba and which we have successfully added to our Samba domain which is running on a Sun. However, when we save a file on the Snap server, the unix owner/group are set incorrectly to the values 20111 and 20002. A file saved on the Sun server has the correct unix owner/group. Consequently, the file save on the snap server cannot be edited at the

Two patches for Snap
Hi, There are a couple of problems with Snapping Windows that I tried to fix: (1) The snap to windows checkbox in ccsm has no effect because Snap treats any window with struts as an edge, and all windows have struts. I think it should be a test for dock windows. (2) Windows don't snap to the left edge because it has been erased. The right edge doesn't seem to get erased because it is

Using openssh-SNAP-20001016 all of our problems with hanging connections have gone away (woohoo!), and it seems to be working flawlessly, but I am seeing messages like this in syslog: Oct 24 16:57:48 dhumb301 sshd[17752]: error: channel 0: internal error: we do not read, but chan_read_failed for istate 8 Oct 24 16:57:59 dhumb301 sshd[17771]: error: select: Bad file descriptor Oct 24 16:58:30

tru64 patch: openssh-SNAP-20020826.tar.gz does not contain 'configure', so how to build?
Hi- Since the tru64 patch was designed for -current, I thought I would try to build it with a recent snapshot before backporting to 3.4p1. So I downloaded openssh-SNAP-20020826.tar.gz frpm the portable snapshots, but it does not contain the 'configure' script. I tried copying the 'configure' from 3.4p1, but that does not create a Makefile from the Makefile.in. Where are the

SNAP 20010213 Bug: ssh-agent environment

Minor fixes for openssh-SNAP-20001028
I've attached a patch for openssh-SNAP-20001028 which fixes the following two problems: 1) I fixed fixpaths to complain instead of failing silently if it can't write the output file. 2) I changed log-server.c to use av0 as the first argument to openlog(). I also made sure it called openlog() before the TCP wrapper stuff, because libwrap calls syslog() and winds up using the

3.6.1p1/SNAP-20030910, AIX & /etc/nologin (similar to bug #178)
I'm seeing a problem under AIX (4.3.3, 5.1, 5.2) very similar to bug #178. It occurs with both 3.6.1p1 and openssh-SNAP-20030910. If /etc/nologin is present, a session requesting a pty will hang, apparently when the sshd parent tries to close the pty slave. As in bug #178, adding a brief sleep to the child sshd anytime after the fork seems to clear up the problem (though I agree that this

3.6p2 build errors on buffer_get with latest portable/SNAP
Tried the user discussion list to no avail, can't get 3.6.p2 portable running due to buffer_get errors. Does the latest portable SNAP incorporate the latest patches? OpenSSH-snap-20040212 and the use of krb5-config
With openssh-snap-20040212 the configure.ac when it finds a krb5-config file, does not call the AC_DEFINE(GSSAPI) or AC_CHECK_HEADER(gssapi.h...) This means that GSSAPI and HAVE_GSSAPI_H are not defined, and thus GSSAPI is not built. If I rename the kerberos provided krb5-config file and run configure, the old method of finding the Kerberos lib and include directories is used and OpenSSH

2.2-970422-RELENG on ftp.freebsd.org (and about SNAP CDs..)
As many of you probably already know, a "SNAP" release is built once per day on the RELENG_2_2 branch (where 2.2.1 came from and from where future 2.2.x releases will be derived) and put up for anonymous FTP at: ftp://releng22.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD Since this site isn't always the easiest to get to or mirror, I will also periodically copy "known good" release snapshots

Patch to wobbly snap for outputs
Here's a patch to wobbly.c to handle edge snapping with multiple outputs... Also, I tweaked the window edge snapping to include dock window types, to support the case where dock windows may be on the inner edges of multiple monitors (and thus currently ignored as struts in the output workarea setup). I personally think we should include these "inner" struts when calculating the

problem with unix extensions on Adaptec SNAP Server (Redhat 8)
I've recently purchased an Adaptec SNAP server to serve as a central file server for a 2500 machine, 7000 user network. My goal is for this server to serve as a backend file store to a number of other servers that the client machines will communicate with. In particular, I would like to have my current file server (which runs samba 3.0.10 in kernel 2.6.10-gentoo-r6) mount a share on the

uid transition and post-auth privsep (WAS Re: possible fundamental problem with tru64 patch) (fwd)
What do we loose by not having post-auth privsep? What code is executed between authorization and actual setting of the effective uid?
