problems accessing samba-share with win xp (pro of course)
hi all,
we need to access a debian 3 /samba 3 beta 2 share from w2k-clients and
xp-clients. my "normal" workstation is working under w2k, if i try to
connect the share it works fine, no matter if i use my own workstation or a
workstation running win xp.
if someone who has a xp-machine as normal workstation tries to connect, the
connetion to the samba-share is refused, no matter, if he

failover not working
I am pretty sure that everything is set up correctly by the nano howto,
but failover does not work.
I am pinging from both the router, and a machine behind it.
When I unplug the interface the pings is going through, both pings stop
freeze. Eventually I get a full buffer complaint from the router, but the
pings never fail to the secondary.
When I down the interface the pings are going

SYSLINUX 3.08-pre10, including "bigraw" support
I have released 3.08-pre10, which includes a version of 'raw' support
which should work when the CPU is in big real mode (called 'bigraw',
appropriately enough.)
Note that it will ALWAYS put DS and ES in big mode; there isn't any
really sane way to test if they should be or not.

SYSLINUX 3.08-pre11
This test release includes the Multiboot support from Tim Deegan, and
increases the command line limit to 1023 characters.
This is a 3.08 release candidate, so if you have a chance, please test
it out.

SYSLINUX 3.08-pre7 released
... it has a slightly modified version of Paul's VKernelBuf
initialization patch. I modified it to initialize the whole buffer instead.
I found, on careful reading of the spec, that it's actually possible to
patch the DHCP packets in PXE memory. This might help the handling of
NBP chainloading in PXELINUX, by making the pathname of the chainloaded
file available to itself. I

pxelinux 3.08-pre8 hangs at boot prompt under vmware GSX
I'm using pxelinux to boot vmware instances, running
VMware-gsx-3.1.0-9089. When I enable the boot: prompt, the prompt is
displayed but then keyboard input is not echoed promptly. By that, I
mean that if you hit a few keys they wont be echoed until several
minutes later. I think the problem relates to the check_for_arp
function; if I comment the line in that that calls pxenv, then the

AW: SYSLINUX 3.08-pre10, including "bigraw" support
hi,
i've tested with 2 version of awdflash and uniflash:
here the results:
it only worked with freedos, not with win98 dos;
with win98 the images were not bootable; but
that does not matter; freedos is ok.
awdflash 8.27.45: flash ok
awdflash 8.27.41 (uses protected mode): flash ok
uniflash 1.40: when starting flashing the program freeze.
awdflash 8.27.45 never worked before so i think this

SYSLINUX 3.08 released
Hello everyone,
I have pushed out SYSLINUX 3.08. It's identical in all but version
number to 3.08-pre11. Sorry for everything that probably should have
been done that didn't make it, but I simply haven't had time :( :( :(
However, given several bugs fixed in 3.08, this seemed important...
Changes in 3.08:
* SYSLINUX: Fix performance regression (-s mode always

Isolinux freezes loading configuration file - fixed in 3.08-pre11.
Follow up,
While awaiting my initial message to clear the moderator, as my
company's Exchange server tacked on some bogus header, I downloaded
version 3.08-pre11 (vs the 3.07 I was using). This newer version seems
to work correctly.

Problem with 3.08 under VMWare
Hi,
I previously had extlinux 3.07 booting off a VMWare SCSI disk fine. After
upgrading to 3.08, the system seem to hang after the EXTLINUX
welcome/copyright message, even before the boot: prompt appears.
Verified that downgrading back to 3.07 is fine, re-upgrading to 3.08 hangs
again.
Any ideas what might be wrong? Thanks.
Regards,

winbind changes from 3.04 vs. 3.08 & 3.09 ?
We have a mixed mode NT4 and W2K domain trust wan. The W2K domains are
for Exchange and the NT4 are for fileservers/users. There's about 5
domains of each throughout our company.
When I was testing 3.04, I could see account from all domains via
winbind -- getent passwd would return NTlocal\user, w2k\user,
w2k2\user, nt4\user, nt42\user..
Since I started testing 3.08 and 3.09 (binaries from

SYSLINUX 3.08-pre5
I have released SYSLINUX 3.08-pre5. Sparse files should now work
correctly in extlinux. Symlink support still needs to be added, though.

have a hosts allow or hosts deny line in your smb.conf. If you don't
want samba to do reverse lookups, then comment out any allow/deny hosts
lines in your smb.conf file.
