Documentation updates...
Hi all, Just a couple of suggestions for documentation updates. First of all, perhaps you should include the following about Windows XP and slow logons/long delays in opening files: Windows XP and slow network logons/long delays in opening files =============================================================== Windows XP includes a WebDav client that attempts to open shares via HTTP. The long wait

KB824141 on Win2K and Samba PDC with a mandatory profile
This one gave me a headache yesterday: Last updated version of KB824141 hotfix on a Windows 2000 workstation in a domain with Samba PDC has the following consequences: 1. When a user with a mandatory profile logs on, it doesn't load the profile correctly. The cached profile looks like a default profile - empty directories except for the NTUSER.MAN. No Desktop, no Application data ...

Sending files from mobile to CentOS via Bluetooth
Has anyone here managed to send files from a mobile phone to a CentOS system via Bluetooth? I'm trying with a Samsung E1310, using the GNOME tools, but can't get it to work. I can send files from the Linux box to this phone using the Nautilus bluetooth plugin (nautilus-sendto-bluetooth), and have also managed to "pull" some data I've been trying to send, via

FreeBSD 4.8 / Samba 3.0.11 - more signal 11's than before... (3.0.8)
The error message is the usual panic error - 3.0.11 and FreeBSD 4.8. Samba 3.0.8 ran fine with the same config (admittedly there were a few roaming profile sync related crashes, which is why I was upgrading). Now however I can't even connect - it crashes immediately, respawns and crashes again. My Samba server is a domain member of a Win2003 domain controller used for roaming profile

samba 3.5.6 as PDC & LDAP - roaming profile problem
Hi all; for few weeks I'm trying to implement a new samba PDC server for my school. It is based on debian squeeze and samba 3.5.6 with lDAP backend. I was able to join a computer into domain, LDAP is working, mapping home drive for users also. It seems that almost all works good but with one exeption. The one thing which is broken is roaming profile support. When user is logging into domain

[LLVMdev] Casting a Value
Hi, I have Value V of Type i32*. How can I convert/set it's Type to i32? Or How can I create another Value of Type i32 and with same name as V. I have tried Value *NewV = new Value(Type, scid); NewV->setName(V->getNameStr()); It causes stack dump. I am not sure as second argument in the Value constructor as scid (SubClassID). So I have mentioned 0. Any Idea how to do this? Regards,

Windows XP client - intermittent 'network name cannotbefound' loading profile
John, I have tried the suggestions you provided. I have setup Dynamic DNS as per the Samba 3 By Example book and this is all updating correctly. I have run the validation steps indicated in the book and all names are resolvable and reachable via hosts, DNS and WINS. I am not sure why winbind would need to be turned off, but seeing as I do not need that currently, I have tried disabling it; the

Samba 2.2.7 as a PDC on FreeBSD 4.8 and a Windows 2K Pro client
I found what looks like a pretty good HOWTO type document at IBM on setting up Samba as a PDC. Samba is up and running using this config. The client Win2K Pro machine was in an office environment - but not sure if it was a NT 4.0 domain env or AD env. So I'm trying to put it into the Samba PDC domain which I've got called NONROUTABLE. I've followed the directions for setting up

net ads dn - reading netbootGUID attribute
hello everyone, I can read *any* attribute I want out of the Active Directory using 'net ads dn'.. except for one - which of course is the (only) one I need. netbootGUID. It is stored in an octet string as is objectGUID and objectSid which I can read properly. example: net ads dn 'cn=host1,cn=computers,dc=example,dc=tld' objectSid Got 1 replies objectSid:

NT 4.0 SP7
Guess what, after I posted I came across the list of hotfixes for after SP6 for NT4. It's basically SP7 under any other name - but requires SP6a installed. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q299444& It's a whopping 13.99 Mb to download (or if you believe IE's figures more than their website, 14.1 )

Samba BDC in a subnet of a Windows NT4.0 domain?
Hi, I've been playing with samba/the idea of Samba as a server for a remote location on our network. How we're setup right now is this: Windows NT 4.0 PDC/BDC/Member Server (hosting Exchange server). The PDC has file sharing for our projects directory and needs to be accessible by employees everywhere. the BDC has SQL server for accounting purposes and also needs to be accessible from

XP roaming profile problem (access denied)
Hi! I was hoping someone had seen this problem, and might be able to help me out with it; I've tried the suggestions I found in the mailing lists and on web sites, to no avail. I'm running samba 3.0.2 on RHEL 3, and XP clients seem to occasionally have problems saving the roaming profile, resulting in error messages and the use of the local profile. The problem is when renaming

disabling offline caching from samba
I'm preparing to roll out a bunch of win XP clients and and am running down all the quirks that come up in the application log on my test box. 1) AutoEnrollement fails - samba is not an active directory so this makes sense it must be disabled by editing the group policy with gpedit.msc computer configuration->windows settings -> security settings -> public key policies ->

Problems with Offline Caching
Hello List, I've set up an 2.2.8a server for file sharing in our company. It auth's against an ldap server and has the usual stuff enabled[1]. I also use ACL support on the XFS filesystem for fine access control. I played around with the csc policy option for a while now, but somehow I cannot find the right setting. The smb.conf(5) manpages states that the settings are similar to those
