3.0.24 smbclient and printer listing
I'm using 3.0.24 with patches from http://us4.samba.org/samba/patches/.
On my XP client the print services for Unix are installed, I shared the
local printer named 'jet' on the XP client to all users and the
connecting user is an existing user on linux (system and samba user) and XP.
I cannot execute the dir command in smbclient for this printer:
deveis # smbclient -Utb%password

2.2.9pre1 cvs - home shares not visible?
Hi,
with 2.2.9pre1 from cvs
(ftp://pserver.samba.org/pub/unpacked/samba_2_2 - downloaded on 14. Sep
2003) the special [homes]- section is broken. The shares with names of
the users are not visible anymore (access is granted).
Switching back to 2.2.8a with the same smb.conf and all is fine.
Client is WinXPPro.

2.2.5, xp and incorrect logon drive as root
Hi @all,
I set up 2.2.5 as PDC. With an XP-Client and log on as an simular user
as root (I'm mapping "Administrator" to root in /etc/user.map) the
logon home directory is the share "root". What is the reason for that?
Is "root" a not usable name for a share?

2.2.3a - buggy homedir mapping with profiles for 9x/winxp
Hi @all,
I'm using version 2.2.3a (because the patch for printingproblems in
2.2.4 is not working for me) as a PDC for Win9x- and WinXP-Clients. I
want to set up different profile directories for Win9x and WinXP. This
seemed not a problem with
logon home = \\%N\%U\profile_9x_me
logon path = \\%N\%U\profile_nt_xp
I have a client with Win98 and WinXP on it. If I log on first with
WinXP and

network. I did read somewhere on the web (several years ago) of a guy
who managed to boot windows from the net.
With the start of Win 98/ME/ etc.etc it's not posible anymore.
I currently use PXE to install machine from the net using bpbatch that
works great only bpbatch is not really under developnt and the script
language is a bit buggy.
I see only one option to boot windows from the net and
