Share disconnect after inactivity
Hi list, I've the strange problem, that after some time of inactivity a share is being disconnected. This leads to a red 'X' in the Workplace's list of connected drives. When opening a disconnected drive, the drive is being reconnected. BUT: This has a very fatal side-effect: When f.e. an MS-Access database is open and the user does not use this db, the share is also being

Cannot change File Attributes
Hi list, i've upgraded Samba 3.0.14a to 3.0.20b (debian package) and ran into following problem: I cannot change the file-attribute (read-only, hidden, archive) from a file via the windows explorer as an ordinary user. The error "access denied" occurs. The file has following permissions on Unix: -rwxrw---- 1 root Massen 0 2005-10-28 08:17 Neu Textdatei.txt The user is

wrong calculation of R-squared in summary.lm
Dear all, I just stumbled upon the fact, that when I perform a regression on multivariate responses, that are not centred, I get a ricilulously high R-squared value. After reading the code of summary.lm, I found a bug in the function summary.lm: mss is calculated by: mss <-sum((f - mean(f))^2) - where f are the fitted values. This works only for a single response variable, because

Sums based on values of other matrix
Dear all, I have a big problem: - I got two matrices, A and B - A shows identifies the value of B, however the values of B must be summed - For instance, 1 1 2 2 2 2 1 1 gives matrix a 3 4 2 1 1 1 2 2 gives matrix b Now the result for the value 1 would be 7 4 which are the rowsums of the values of matrix B given that matrix A has the value 1. How can I do this automatically? I

Fixes and workarounds for regressions and issues in the randr-1.2 branch
Hi, Please find attached the patches which I currently use on my desktop machine for dual head with the randr branch to fix the issues which I found. They may help others as well but may e.g. also disable the Xv blitter which might be working for some (but didn't on my card) - more information is found in the text comments in the patches. I have to hurry so this is short, will be back.

Convert chr pieces to numbers that have specific values defined by 2 vectors
Dear all, I think this is an easy task, but I don't know how to do it. Specifically, I have 69 columns with 300.000 rows. In each cell there is a code like "2E3", "4RR", etc. I now have a list that replaces this with values, e.g., old new 2E3 5 4RR 3 etc. The list ist about 1600 rows long, so also to extensive for normal solutions Do you how to do that? It would

codepage-conversion for smbclient
Hi list, I've browsed through the archives, but I didn't find a answer for this: I use smbclient to access a windowsNT 4.0 server. I get only '?' for filenames which contains Umlauts. F.e., a file called "Verkn?pfung" is displayed as "Verkn?pfung". I use following mount-string: mount.smbfs //SERVER/Share /home/xxx -o rw noexec nosuid nodev user codepage

Program needs IE4 installed - how tho handle?
Hi group, I want to install a SW-package. This needs IE4 to be installed. The installation aborts with an error and popups a message, that IE4 needs to be installed before the installation can continue. How can I handle this? Is there a trick that do this? I don't see any advantage of IE4 on my Linux box. Andy.

syncer causing latency spikes
Hello, I'm trying to investigate and solve some postgres latency spikes that I'm seeing as a result of some behaviour in the syncer. This is with FreeBSD 8.2 (with some local modifications and backports, r231160 in particular). The system has an LSI 9261-8i RAID controller (backed by mfi(4)) and the database and WALs are on separate volumes, a RAID 6 and a RAID 1 respectively. It has

Problems starting wine...
I'm hoping someone can help me out with this... I've been running the Wine package in Debian/Woody for quite a while now, and have been able to run most of the windows programs I want to. However, for some reason wine just stopped working for me. Here is the error output for every windows program I run: For language 'english' several language ids were found: en_US - 0409; en_GB

Maximum number of user space probes
Is there a limit on the number of user space probes that can be present at any time? I have compiled very many probes into our product, and can''t see all of them in "dtrace -l". it looks very much like I have all of them up to some point at which I''ve hit some hard limit. I can see a total of 8588 probes, I think 2 processes have all of the ones I expect (one has 1752

sftp
Yo All! I understand why we do not have sftp in openssh, but it would be nice if we could make it so that when an SSH.COM scp2 client makes a connection to an OpenSSH V2 daemon that it does not hang.... Any ideas or do I need to dig a bit on this? Here is what the sshd says when I conenct to it from scp2: debug: session_open: session 0: link with channel 0 debug: confirm session debug:

Autocreation the home folder
Sorry if this has been already asked, but I haven't been able to find a solution, I am trying to migrate a dovecot 1.2 config to 2.1, the 'dovecot -n > dovecot.conf' migrated all the setup without issues, and the mail is working as expected. The only issue I've had is with the change with the mail_location, mail_home, that in the 2.1 versions can't be on the same path.

sample from list
Hi all, I have a list of genes present in 500 individuals, the individuals are the elements: Genes <- lapply(1:nrow(inds),function(x) sample(1:10000,inds$No_of_Genes,replace=TRUE)) (This was later written to a dataframe as well as kept as the list object: inds2 <- data.frame(inds,Genes=I(Genes))) I also have a vector of how many of those genes are expressed in the individuals, this can

openssh-1.2.1pre24 on SCO
Yo All! Sorry if this is obvious but I am new to openssh. I have used the original ssh for a while and am familiar with it (and it's restrictive license). I am trying to port openssh-1.2.1pre24 on to SCO UnixWare 7.1.0. I will post the small patches when it is really running. Two problems, SCO has no /dev/random so I installed egd-0.6. It usually works but sometimes dies. I have sent
