Samba and W2K printer issues
I posted this query a couple of days ago and received no responses.
SInce that time, some other info has come to light that I thought would
be useful to helping to solve this porblem.
My network consists of a firewall machine networked with a SuSE 7.2

HOWTO for setting up Samba as a PDC
Hello fellow list members,
does anyone knows of a good HOWTO (or a book) for setting up Samba as a PDC?
I have been dealing around with the Samba HOWTO collection, but to be
honest, this is a hard job. There are some errors in it and descriptions
are not this good. I even don't know what all the tools are for.
I'm really experienced in Linux server stuff, but this one drives me mad.

How do I stop the guest account printing?
Hi there.
I've had Samba running fo a while now on a machine that we use as a shared
file store. Not everyone who uses it has an account on the linux machine,
so it's setup with "security = share" to allow guest access to some of the
shares. But I've now attached a printer that I dont want guest access to.
This might be something really simple that I'm missing, but I

File locking issues with Peachtree
I am having problems with storing Peachtree Complete Accounting on a Samba share. I know people have reported issues like this before but I have yet to see a solution.
Is there anyone here who has successfully set this up (without getting the lock errors)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

other computers I can use the printer nearly without problems except the
printing queue in windows is not accessible (Permission denied...).
Whenever I try to send a e.g. word-document to te printer, word exits

Our office is running somes tests by introducing a couple of Linux

I know that this is not really a samba issue, but I thought I might be
able to get some help here to rectify my problems. I apologize if this

When Upgrading Wine
So, version .16 has come out and I wouldn't mind upgrading. The thing is, I have to patch my Wine source code for a particular game. I guess I have to remove the Wine version I have now, patch the .16 and compile the source code? If there is another way, please let me know.
Though, my main question is if I uninstall Wine, will it take thing installed with it; I mean, does .wine still exist

find closest value in a vector based on another vector values
Dear All,
would you please provide your thoughts on the following:
let us say I have:
a <-c(1,5,8,15,32,69)
b <-c(8.5,33)
and I would like to extract from "a" the two values that are closest to the values in "b", where the length of this vectors may change but b will allways be shorter than "a". So at the end based on this example I should have the result

Image files in R
Does anyone have experience importing image files into R? I would like to be able to import such files, use R to analyze and compare and perhaps export again a modified file which can be displayed by the usual image display programs.

Help on numerical object and ifelse function
Dear All,
this is probably an easy one but I can not get a handle on it:
x <-c(1,2,3,4,5)
y <-c(6,7,8,9,10)
z <-15
w <-ifelse(z>14,x,y)
this will give me a value of 1 for w. What I would like to get is the whole string of x, so that w would become a numeric object of 5 characters exactly the same as x.
Apreciate the help,
Sincerely,
Andras

Help on finding specific columns in matrix
Dear All,
I have a matrix with 33 columns and 5000 rows. I would like to find 2 specific columns in the set: the one that holds the highest values and the one that holds the lowest values. In this case the column's mean would be apropriate to use to try to find those specific columns because each columns mean is different and they all change together based on the same "change of rate
