Roaming Profiles XPSP2 - SAMBA 3.0.9
Hi can anyone help please? I recently updated from 3.0.7 to3.0.8 to 3.0.9. Since 3.0.8 I recognized XP not loading the roaming profiles, without any error report temporary local profiles were used, but not copied to the server. All worked fine with 3.0.7. Only members of the admingroup are able to load and to save their profiles. Is there any known issue about profiles and ACL??? The smblogs

Problem with creating machine account for domain logon
Hi, If i try to let my laptop logon to my samba domain i see in the logfiles that there must me a machine account in the /etc/passwd file. So i created manualy "useradd <machine>$" This works fine and i'm able to log on to the domain. Freeradius logon with machine account...
With Samba in NT mode, i was able to enable wireless access using machine account, and worked decently. Now i want to try again in AD mode, but i've not found info, and i've just hit a trouble: Oct 1 14:31:55 vdmsv1 radiusd[13555]: rlm_ldap (ldap): Opening additional connection (25), 1 of 31 pending slots used Oct 1 14:31:55 vdmsv1 radiusd[13555]: (187) Login incorrect:

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi List, I just set up a new Samba4 AD controller, created users, etc. When I join a test workstation from our old, currently active domain to the new AD server (separate network) the join succeeds, and the user can log in the first time to be prompted with the "change your password" prompt. Immediately after changing the password, the

Thanks Rowland, I'll check that out. The funny thing is though, this workstation is in a "test" environment because I'm testing a profile migration/domain join tool. Now, the *first* workstation I tested, I joined to the domain "by hand". That one works for logons as expected. On 04/09/2015 11:07 AM, Rowland Penny wrote: > On 09/04/15 15:52, John E.P. Hynes

Logon Script - edit registry
There is the issue with permissions, but you may use cpau.exe it is like "runas " but more features, then run it as the local system account. It works fine, here is an example like I used it. For the systemaccountpassword enter an empty space.... %windir%\system32\cpau -u localhost\system -p -ex "reg DELETE HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run /v Information Update

Winbind + machine account + non-anonymous access (RestrictAnonymous)
Hi everybody, my (our) goal here is to setup a samba server in a NT domain (and eventually in a Win2k domain - but for now I just want to test it on NT) and have it act like a member server - meaning that I don't use the local user database but instead assing permissions of shares to domain users and groups. To avoid having to administer both users in the NT domain and on the samba

Samba authentication fails unless unix account exists
I've set up Samba 3.0.9 with ADS support and open LDAP 2.2.23 on freeBSD 5.3. I've got all the essential services working as far as i can tell. Nmbd, smbd, and winbindd are running. I've created a machine account in the domain with the net ads join command. Wbinfo -u returns a list of my AD domain users in the DOMAIN\username format Wbinfo -g returns my groups in the same

machine account isn't created in LDAP database
I have bought SuSE Enterprise Server 10 from Novell. I have configured LDAP & Samba as PDC for my local LAN. Now when I try to join my Windows clients machines using the Administrator as username, I get the error " user not found". Infact, when I see the LDAP database, the machine account is added. But still the clients do net get added to the Domain. Now If I add Suse Desktop Linux
