I can map the network drives manually and tell them to reconnect at login, but I am wondering why they don't execute them. Greetings- I have not found discussed / documented what to do with machine accounts when moving a Samba PDC to new hardware. I have seen that uid/gid numbers must match between the old/new system. I am thinking to use adduser to accomplish that, then make the numbers on the new server match, using a text editor. After that, can I simply enter the machine account entries by hand with a text

It would be nice to have some additional attributes in the samba.schema. I have several servers that all my users need to have mapped locations. It would be nice if I could add drive letters and paths in ldap, but there doesn't seem to be anything defined in the schema. This way when I run the script to create the user all of the standard mappings are created as well.

Hello, I run a Windows domain based on Samba 3 and I am searching for a way to distribute/deploy software to clients. I.e., a user logging on to a client, software should be automatically installed or upgraded. Is there any common solution? Has anyone looked into creating custom templates for Microsoft's System Policy editor ? I like the idea of managing workstations through the NTConfig.POL file, but the included templates are quite a bit outdated. Does anyone know if it would be worth-while to take the time and create an updated Template to add policies to manage newer features of Windows 2000/XP through the NTConfig.POL

Greetings- I am wondering if anyone from the Samba team would happen to have interest in creating official builds for Ubuntu? To add a twist, unfortunately I would not be fishing for 7.10 packages, but rather 7.04 as we ran into too many issues with 7.10 whereas 7.04 seems rock solid stable.
