Im haveing a problem with my profiles share on my Samba 2.2.3 PDC server. I have a share like this: [profiles] path = /home/samba/profiles writeable = yes create mask = 0700 directory mask = 0700 browsable = no valid users = root,@smbusers The roaming profile works just fine with windows2k, and the users can't read the other profiles (they get a "access

samba roaming profiles not working
I've been at this for hours now and am still not getting it to work. I've been through the lists trying to find an answer and so far as I can tell, everything is configured OK. Obviously it's not, but I'm stuck. I recently installed Squeeze on my home server, overwriting a Lenny installation. I've been able to add my NT (Windows XP/Pro) domain accounts back in and pdbedit

Moving roaming profiles between domains, risky?
OK, now i've to start to move the big part of my users from my old NT-like domains to my new AD domain. I've setup roaming profile in the new domain following the wiki (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Roaming_Windows_User_Profiles, 'using windows ACL') and for new profiles works like a charm. But i've tried to move/copy old profile to the new domain, and seems work, with

AW: AW: WinXP Profiles
Hi, Yeah, I too had that one :-) The problems are access rights! So, what I did was the following: 1. I created the standard profile in WinXP (Admin) installed the progs set the docs and outlook-paths started the progs (to check they are working) set all the desktop settings (for the users!) played A LOT with "gpedit.msc" ;-) 2. I created a 2nd admin and logged in 3. in

Troubles on Roaming Profiles...
I don't know if is relevant and maybe is the same as GPO that you've created, but Ive a profiles folder with this configuration: [profiles] path = /server/share/profiles read only = no browsable = no Other options are on my smb.conf global section so is the same as your configuration. Next I've changed the profile path on the user configuration instead use a

Moving roaming profiles between domains, risky?
Hai, Sorry for the late reply, but yes, this is a risky move. Did you make sure this the DOMAIN SID's are exact the same between old and new servers? This: rsync -av --progress --xattrs --rsh=ssh Does not copy the (windows) acl's. Look at https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Bidirectional_Rsync/Unison_based_SysVol_replication_workaround Howto to this with rsync and unison, the

Roaming Profiles problem
Background: I've setup my server (name:firewall) to acts as a PDC, and to use roaming profiles. I am using Windows XP with sp1 on the client machines. Problem: When I login to my domain (panacea) I get the following error-message: -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile and is attempting to log

storing profiles on a 3rd host (NetApp), and [profiles] section of smb.conf
1. Is it okay to use an NFS-mounted path in the [profiles] path statement? 2. How do I make sure that owner & permissions don't get set to root on certain profile files when the user profile is migrated to the PDC 'logon path' area? -------------------------------------------------------- I've set out to move our Windows PCs into a samba PDC domain, and my first profile

mixed local & roaming profiles?
Before I join all my W2K clients to my 3.0.8-2 Samba server (Debian), I plan to remove "logon path = ..." due to sporatic problems I'm seeing. We're only ~10 regular Windows2000 users, and ~30 VMware Win2K users, so roaming doesn't buy us much. However, it might be helpful if I could enable roaming either by user or by host, particularly with the VMware users. Is

Very strange function() behaviour.
Hi, R newb here. I've coded a function that inputs N dimensional array(s) [or class=numeric if it's dim=1] of coefficients and tstats, where dim(coef_matrix)=dim(tstat_matrix), it will then output a same dimension matrix of coefficients pasted to tstats in brackets pasted to significance stars. If I go straight to the code INSIDE the function, it works 100% as it's supposed to. The
