limiting access with win groups
I want to limit access to shares via windows groups but when I set a share to anything other than 'valid users = %S' or 'valid users =', I cannot access the share. The error message indicates that the share is not accessible and I may not have sufficient permissions. If I change just the valid users in smb.conf and restart smb, I get right in without prompting. I also found that I

Network_access_denied and no group in domain
Was: RE: [Samba] samba 3.0 and freebsd 5.1 Hi Aaron, I deinstalled the 3.0.1 port and got the source tarball for 3.0.2a and installed from there. I also swapped out 3.0.1 for 3.0.2 on the domain controller when I discovered the second problem. I can now use smbclient to log into a file share on the member server, giving an " smb: \> " prompt but doing ls gives an error of:

[OT] Apache rewrite stuff...
Hi all, a little off topic, but was wondering what the best way is to re-write incoming requests so that they all end up at the same domain. For example, if I had: my_domain.net my_domain.com my_domain.org Whats the best way to map/redirect all of these to www.my_domain.com ? I know its possible, just not sure what to add for rules/virtual hosts in my apache config. Thanks for the help! -Nick

winbind lookup errors
Hello Samba folks, I have recently begun seeing some disturbing behavior from winbind. Winbind will fail to look up users and groups. Examples: The machine is configured to use winbind as a nss module. "getent passwd <username>" will yield no results. "wbinfo -n <username>" will yield "Could not lookup name <username>" "wbinfo -g"

I 'm using winbindd in "idmap proxy only" mode. Here 's my generic smb.conf: workgroup = METADS realm = META.XXX.XX "it 's not the real realm, of course !" security = ADS
