Trying to mount RAID1 degraded with removed disk -> open_ctree failed
Hi,
I have setup a RAID1 using 3 devices (500G each) on separate disks.
After removing one disk physically the filesystem cannot be mounted in
degraded nor in recovery mode. When putting the disk back in the
filesystem can be mounted without errors. I did a cold-swap (powercycle
after removal/insertion of the disk).
Here are the details:
- latest kernel 3.2.1 and btrfs-tools on xubuntu

// RESEND // 7.6: Software RAID1 fails the only meaningful test
(Resend: message didn't show, was my original message too big? Posted one of
the output files to a website to see)
The point of RAID1 is to allow for continued uptime in a failure scenario.
When I assemble servers with RAID1, I set up two HDDs to mirror each other,
and test by booting from each drive individually to verify that it works. For
the OS partitions, I use simple partitions and

recovery notice on every reboot, errors writing to fs
excuse the newbie nature of the post, we recently inherited a linux server which
has ext3 on it and we have encountered problems before being afforded the
opportunity to properly educate ourselves...
We had a situation where the server froze and required a hard restart. On
reboot we get the following notices which were captured in the dmesg log

Avago (LSI) SAS-3 controller, poor performance on CentOS 7
I have a handful of new systems where I've seen unexpectedly low disk
performance on an Avago SAS controller, when using CentOS 7. It looked
like a regression, so I installed CentOS 6 on one of them and reloaded
CentOS 7 on the other. Immediately after install, a difference is
apparent in the RAID rebuild speed. The CentOS 6 system is initializing
its software RAID5 array at somewhere

boot problem after disk change on raid1
Hello,
I have two disks sda and sdb. One of the was broken so I have changed the
broken disk with a working one. I started the server in rescue mode, and
created the partional table, and added all the partitions to the software
raid.
*I have added the partitions to the RAID, and reboot.*

Debian Sarge Root Raid + LVM + XEN install guide (LONG)
Hello fellow xenophiles and happy new year!
I''ve documented the install procedure for a prototype server here since
I found no similar document
Anywhere on the net. It''s a Sarge-based Domain0 on linux root raid from
scratch, using LVM to store
the data for the domU mail server and its mailstore. I humbly submit my
notes in the hope that they are useful to some weary traveller.

more software raid questions
hi all!
back in Aug several of you assisted me in solving a problem where one
of my drives had dropped out of (or been kicked out of) the raid1 array.
something vaguely similar appears to have happened just a few mins ago,
upon rebooting after a small update. I received four emails like this,
one for /dev/md0, one for /dev/md1, one for /dev/md125 and one for

Data Recovery tools Mac
Many people have deleted the wrong file when the file has been accidentally lost, a lot of computer companies now have a data
recovery business, but also set the price very high, not the individual can accept, in fact, data recovery is also dependent
on A variety of data recovery software, as long as the master of the use of these software, we can get back some of their own
deleted files.

LiveCD System recovery - Mounting LVM?
Hi,
I am trying to recover data from my old system which had LVM. The disk had
two partitions - /dev/sda1 (boot, Linux) and /dev/sda2 (Linux LVM). I had
taken a backup of both partitions using dd.
Now I am booting of CentOS live cd for system restore. I recreated
partitions like previous system using fdisk and then used dd to dump all the
data onto it. I would like to mount sda2 as LVM, but I

LVM problem after adding new (md) PV
Hello,
I have a weird problem after adding new PV do LMV volume group.
It seems the error comes out only during boot time. Please read the story.
I have couple of 1U machines. They all have two, four or more Fujitsu-Siemens
SAS 2,5" disks, which are bounded in Raid1 pairs with Linux mdadm.
First pair of disks has always two arrays (md0, md1). Small md0 is used
for booting and the rest - md1

rsync recovery of system backup to different Linux computer
I have been making off site backups of my CentOS Linux servers using rsync.
One of my hosting companies has suddenly gone out of business and I am
unable to access the server that I was renting at that location, however, I
have a complete system backup on another Linux server at a different
location. My question is: Is it possible for me to load that rsync backup
to another computer system that

DISAATER RECOVERY PROBLEM
Hi Guys,
I am trying to set up a quick disaster recovery methodology for a
client. It is supposed to work as follows:-
All Data files , everything in /etc (except for a few hardware specific
files such as fstab), all users .bashrc and .netrc files, all cron
tables etc. is written to a DVD as a zipped tar file. A recovery script
that unpacks this file, creates any directories required by the

The system is installed and boots from sda[1,2] and md127 (sda3 and

CentOS 7 install software Raid on large drives error
Greetings -
I am trying to install CentOS 7 into a new Dell Precision 3610. I have two
3 TB drives that I want to setup in software RAID1. I followed the guide
here for my install as it looked fairly detailed and complete
(http://www.ictdude.com/howto/install-centos-7-software-raid-lvm/). I only
changed the size of the partitions from what is described, but ended up with
