XP SP2 - winlogon.exe crashes
============== The problem: ============== I am in the testing stages of implementing a Samba domain. My user is logging on to a standard win xp SP2 desktop, with the samba pdc, supplying the credentials. The logon screen disappears and an "SAS window: winlogon.exe - Application Error" box pops up on the Win XP screen. If I click OK the machine reboots. My user can log onto the Debian

WindowsXP SP2 shuts down while trying to log into samba 3.0.6 domain
Hello, I have few Windows2000 Pro samba domain members which logon to the domain without any obstacles. Recently I decided to upgrade all client workstations to WindowsXP SP2. Fresh copy of WindowsXP joined domain properly but when I tried to logon as usual it accepted password and shut down after a while (logs of samba confirm that workstation logged on). Windows claims that winlogon caused

Windows XP SP2 on a Samba 3.0.10 PDC - roaming profiles won't work
Hi All, I am having some trouble getting Windows XP with SP2 connected to a Samba 3.0.10-based domain controller. With SP1, I only had to change a single registry key to prevent Windows from demanding a signed connection, then it worked. But with SP2, and the same samba-configuration, I have noticed that upon log-off, the user's profile is updated by the user "root" of the group

PDC: Logging out from Windows XP SP2 takes a long time
I have samba set up as primary domain controller, and have problems with my Windows XP SP2 machines. Logging in is quick, but most of the time (nine out of ten times) the logout process takes a long time - I do end up rebooting, but once I let it stay and it took a whole hour before it was logged out. It seems to act the same way for all users. Possible sources already eliminated: - I have

Problems with SAMBA as PDC and Windows XP SP2 as client
Hi!! We are trying to configure a Debian Linux Server as Samba Server (Domain Controller) and a Windows XP (with Service Pack 2) as client. We have configured Windows into the Samba Domain (in other words, we have been able to agregate the machine into the domain), but when we restart Windows and try to login with a samba user (from linux server) (selecting the Domain), we received a message

Workstation crash after login to PDC
Finally figured out why I couldn't login to my samba 3.0.2a PDC, I had a mismatch in one of the SID's. The error is in a window titled SAS window:winlogon.exe - Application Error with the message being instruction at 0x00450056 referenced memory at 0x00000000 the memory could not

XP SP2 offline files sync delay (again)
I'm running Samba 3.0.7 on Mandrakelinux 9.2 as a PDC, with a few shares from the PDC and more on a separate Mandrakelinux 10.0 member file server, also running Samba 3.0.7. The passdb backend is LDAP and clients are all Windows XP Professional SP1. Except for the below, everything works great! We make heavy use of offline files, and with Windows XP SP1, all is well. However, when I

3.0.6 ? and XP SP2
I posted a while back about problems logging in via a laptop with XP SP2 on. Today I have found some more information (i.e. something else now doesn't work) which should help the developers identify/solve the problem. As far as I can see this has not been on the list. My original problem was that having installed XP SP2 & 3.0.6-1 (as a new install) I found a laptop, which I usually log

win xp sp2 + samba 3.0.4
I have samba 3.0.4 acting as a local master browser and couple of win xp sp1, sp2, win 9x client machines. Everything works fine excepts win xp sp2. It just disappears from network neighborehood in about 15-20 minutes after start. stop/starting "Server" system service on this machine solves problem for next 15-20 mins. %) What can be done about it? Is there any sence to upgrade samba to

Write performance of Win XP Pro sp2 & Samba
I have a file testing program that creates, writes and indexes a file on the server from the Windows client. On xpp sp1 the program takes 7 sec to write file and 8 sec to read the indexed file. After telling the Firewall to go away I can get the following numbers from xpp sp2; 29..30..45 (tested multiple times) sec to write the file and 7..8 sec to read the file. Any ideas on why the

XP SP2
I know someone who has been using Wine to run a State campaign finance reporting program, works fine. But a new version is out and must be used starting end of March. If keeping winecfg to XP, the new version will require SP2. Does the program have any chance of working? In other words, what "version" of XP does Wine use? Any Windows XP SP2 RC2 Experience?
Earlier today I installed Windows XP SP2 RC2 onto two of my production machines. My test boxes were fine, but the two production machines I installed them on failed to print in Adobe Reader and IE. I've got a Samba 2.2.9 DC with a CUPS printing backend. Anyway, I've backed off the SP on both production machines, and I'm going to try to replicate the issue with another test box, but

XP + SP2 + DFS + netbios alias = not working
Hi all, I'm using Samba 3.0.6 (on IRIX 6.5). This is just a 'let you know what I've discovered' message really. I've just installed upgrade a laptop here to SP2 of Windows XP. It then started failing to make network connections. After much fiddling about, I tracked it down to DFS shares. This PC can now connect to the DFS root OKay, but doesn't recognise the entries
