Timestamp problem
Hi When new files or copied files are putted in a Samba share (3.0.2 Solaris) from Win clients, it has no time stamp, only date stamp, example: -rwxr--r-- 1 me me 740762 Oct 11 2004 test.jpg It only shows the date. Our application relies on time stamps to process the files (actually ftp is the method to move files) so that breaks the application. We would like to use Samba instead and that

time and date stamp in voicemail
Hi, I see that there's been some very light discussion on having a standard time and date stamp in VM. How can I implement it today? (About to offer a system to a customer but they need the stamp to tell when people called.) Thanks, -- Steve ______________________________________ This sig is pending approval

Wintertime/summertime difference - Samba servers show wrong time ?
When the Central European Time was last switched back to standard, at 03:00 last Sunday, the October 30th, a process died on one of my Windows clients with a mysterious "unknown error". When it was restarted it just went merrily on with its task. Luckily it wasn't part of a life support system. I found out that the immediate cause was how file timestamps were interpreted/presented

Samba 2.0.6, MKS' touch.exe, and file/dir time stamps
Hello all, we are experiencing problems with samba 2.0.6 and the MKS touch command. during our builds, we touch files and directories so that our make dependencies work correctly. Unfortunately, it seems that MKS' touch.exe doesn't actually change the time stamp of a file or directory. The command returns without an error, but the timestamp does not change. The same problem exists

Best way of merging mbox files
When concatenating mbox files like described here https://xaizek.github.io/2013-03-30/merge-mbox-mailboxes/. You will end up with an 'unsorted' mbox file. Is this going to be a problem esspecially when they are large >2GB's and new emails will be written to it? The email client nicely sorts the message from folder A "foldera 5 last" as last, but of course the mbox is

Cronjob script with date stamp?
I have a cron job that calls a shell script - the script invokes dump. I'd like to do two things: - Have the script dump the results of the job to a text file. I tried this with /path/to/dump my switches -v >> /home/me/dump.log But that just produced an empty file. - Have the dump file be date-stamped with the date it was executed. Right now, I manually edit the script to change
