W2K/2.2 (CVS)/PDC problem.
Hiya. I'm trying to get a 2.2 PDC working, and am hitting a brick wall.
I've tried to make sure I'm in compliance with the 2.2 HOWTO and FAQ, but
it doesn't seem to be helping.
- I've added both root and my pc's "hostname" to smbpasswd, and the
hostname itself to the passwd file, as per the HOWTO.
- I swiped the smb.conf and /etc/rc.d/init.d/samba files from

Win2k/XP doesn't execute logon.bat while logging in to Samba PDC
Hi all!
I'm going mad about getting my shares mapped to my win2k and winXP machines from my Samba PDC Version 3.0.2 on Debian.
Win-machines doesn't seem to execute logon.bat at all, except when i log on as root. I've set the ownership and chmod 0775 all logon.bat files to eatch user on my network.
Am i just blind or are there something obvious/very wrong with my config?

I got almost the same problem authenticating to a Samba 3.0.20 server
in a Windows 2003 Domain in mixed mode (updated from a Windows 2000 Domain).

Trouble with XP/Pro and Samba PDC
Hi all,
i have some trouble with my Samba PDC and XP. The XP-Box joins the
samba-domain without problems. The machine trust accounts also appear in
passwd-file correctly.
The problem is that i can't log in to the xp-box (domain) after i joined
the domain. The error message tells me that xp can't find the domain
controller or the user account. I am trying to log in with the same

Help with making samba-3.0.0 PDC and adding a XP/Pro client (and domain user accounts)
I would like to understand how to make my samba-3.0.0 (-15, from Fedora Core
1) a PDC and how to make a XP/Pro box member of that domain and to add a
domain user account, and eventually to ad a few more linux boxen as domain
members into that domain.
This is the output of the PDC box testparm (the PDC box has two eth
interfaces, only eth1 (192.168.1.* and 127.0.0.1 should access the PDC):

Samba PDC and XP Pro Problem. (Not signorseal - fixed that one some time ago)
Hi,
This is a simple query and may well have been answered in the mailing
list archives but my searching can't find an answer to my specific
problem.
My PDC is Samba 2.2.3 on Redhat 7.3, clients are a mix of Win 2k and XP
Pro laptops.
The Win 2k laptops work fine (all service packs applied) and allow any
domain user to log on to any of the 2k laptops. However the XP laptops

Setting up a Samba PDC to server XP pro clients
I have been setting up Windows servers to serve windows clients for many
years and am now looking at samba as an alternative. I am currently
having a problem setting up samba as a PDC for windows XP clients. I
can see the samba server through My Network Places. If I try to access
it I can after putting in one of the usernames and passwords I have set
up using smbpasswd. I have added a machine

Win XP Pro / Linux PDC
Hi all,
I'm trying to configure Samba as a PDC. I'm running Debian Woody, hence
Samba version 3.0.0final-1. We have no Windows servers anywhere on the
network (yay!).
I have done an smbpasswd for root, and add machine script is setup (see
attached smb.conf). From the XP Pro workstation, when I fill in the domain
name, log in as root, and click ok, I eventually get: "The following

LDAP PDC problems
Hello there,
I'm running 2.2.5 compiled with ACL and LDAP auth. The PDC used to work
flawlessly using smbpasswd but I want to dual boot the workstations to
Linux so I need a centralized LDAP authentication repository.
Once I reinstalled the LDAPized samba I started populating the directory
with the "well-known" identities using the smbldap tools (bear in mind
I'm more of a

XP Pro connecting to PDC
I have followed the FAQs and HOW-TOs, including the Sign and Seal registry patch, but I am unable to make this work.
RedHat 9.0
Samba 3.0.0rc4
XP Pro SP1
When I setup the PC and join the domain, it gives me the 'Welcome to the Domain' message, but I really don't think that this has worked because of errors in the log file, (yes I can provide, and yes I am using the smb user root).

Unable to browse PDC from WIN2000 clients or clints from PDC
HI All;
I can not browse the PDC from client machines (even though they log into
the domain just fine).
I am unable to browse the shares from the server or see any of the client
PC's in the domain.
I'm running REDAHT Linux ES 4, with Kernel 2.6.9-42.0.3.ELsmp
SAMBA is samba-3.0.10-1.4E.9
I deleted all the logs and restarted samba and find only the following 3

Removing variables from data frame with a wile card
Valentin,
You are correct that R does many things largely behind the scenes that make some operations fairly efficient.
>From a programming point of view, though, many people might make a data.frame and not think of it as a list of vectors of the same length that are kept that way.
So if they made a copy of the original data with fewer columns, they might be tempted to think the original
