Windows XP SP2 doesn't login to SAMBA domain
Hello,
We have a samba server for our computer lab. Currently all the machines are
either windows 98 or windows 2000. The 98 machines are assigned to the
'INTRANET' workgroup, while the windows 2000 machines are part of the
'INTRANET' domain. We have no problems with this setup.
I'm now trying to deploy Windows XP (sp2) computers to this lab. I'm
constantly getting

Getting rid of "You haven't logged on here before"
According to the Samba docs, there's really no good way
to have Windows stop asking "You haven't logged on here before.
Would you like your settings saved?" or whatever nonsense
it actually says.
However, due to headaches getting profiles COPIED and not
merged with local copies as well as privacy concerns, I'd like to blast
the profiles subdirectory constantly. But that

Windows 10 temporary profile error, when domain remote profile directory exists and is empty
Hello,
The below happens with Samba 4.7.* (didn't checked with other Samba 4
versions):
Setup: Samba 4.7.* AD, two domain controllers, 'computer A' and
'computer B' are Windows 10 domain members.
1. A user (login 'username') logs in into domain for the first time, on
a 'computer A'.
Samba DC doesn't find existing profile directory and creates an empty

Profile question
Everyone,
I didn't know where else to call for help. Here it goes. I trying to
replace our Win2k PDC with a combination of Samba3-LDAP-PDC. But I'm not
having much luck in retaining my user's local profiles, I want this PDC
migration to be as simple and transparent as possible, but the new samba
pdc doesn't seem to want to recognize the old profiles (same with the

net rpc user add produces duplicate SID
Hi list,
The task is to move an old samba installation (ubuntu with samba 3.0 brachch) to
a new debian installation with samba 3.3.9. Both setups work as pdcs and have an
ldap backend which I try to move from one setup to the next.
In this new setup I tried to ldapsam:editposix = yes. Therefore I also installed
winbind.
I moved the domain SID and the local SID to the new pdc and filled the ldap

Netware 5.0 to Samba/LDAP migration
I'd like to migrate a Netware 5.0 serve to Samba and LDAP. I'm
wondering how I might export the usernames, passwords, and perhaps
group memberships to the destination LDAP. If I can get the data into
LDIF form, I'm okay from there. Does anyone know how the passwords in
Netware 5.0 are encrypted? I hope to bring them over, but reseting the
passwords is not out of the question (just

login scripts --what to use
Hi,
We're setting up a PDC, and would like to have a login script to deliver
the mapped drives to users in particular groups, and connect to
printers. The printer drivers come from the [print$], share.
Does anyone have any good resources for this? What's the easiest and
simplest thing to get going --vbscript or batch files?
Thanks,

samba 4 questions (status, roaming profiles, etc)
I'm testing samba 4 (pulling from git) on my ubuntu 10.4 box and have a
bunch of questions I can't seem to find answers for on the web.
1) There is some problem with my roaming profile such that windows
complains and logs me in using my most recently saved profile. I've
tried moving my profile on the server out of the way, but windows
doesn't seem to recreate it. How do I make

be anything, letters, digits etc. I'm only interested in the content within
each "{}".
I am close but not really there yet.

[LLVMdev] Make install drops 64-bit LLVM in Windows x86 program folder
Hi,
I just did a "make install" on Win7x64 using Mingw64 and it dropped off the
files in "C:\Program Files (x86)\LLVM". That's almost right, but nicer
would be if the 64-bit build was dropped off in "C:\Program Files\LLVM".
I am fairly confident that it is me who is doing something wrong because I
simply do this:

GLM: order of terms in model
Dear R-helpers,
I have been analysing data using a GLM. My model is as follows:
mod <- glm (V ~ T + as.factor(A) + N, family="gaussian")
and using
anova(mod, test="F")
to get the analysis of deviance table and the fraction of deviance
explained by each term.
T and A dominate with respect to their Deviance, with T having a
larger effect than A (about twice)

Icecast 2.2.0 and Ices2: no audio
Folks:
I'm trying to set up a streaming server under Fedora Core 2 using Icecast
2.2.0. Everything compiles; everything runs. There are no indications of a
problem in any of the log files.
When I look at http://192.168.0.128:8000/status.xsl, everything looks ok.
But when I click on "Click to listen", it brings up xmms, but there's no
indication of audio, and xmms shows a bit

Functional Testing
Hey all,
I have a many-to-many relationship (Questions
has_and_belongs_to_many Answers), and when I destroy
the Question (the one) I also destroy all the Answers
(the many).
Since the following doesn''t seem to work for
has_and_belongs_to_many:
class Question < AR::Base...
has_and_belongs_to_many :answers, :dependent =>
:destroy
end
I have this embedded in a transaction block
