Can you, please, share exactly your setup - AIX version and well as how exactly you installed the compilers (=where from)? I can then try to replicate it. AFAICS there is no official binary for gfortran nor gcc 4.7 so it must be some 3rd party - which could also be a

install opt-samba-base on aix 5.3
I am trying to install samba 3.0.24 on aix 5.3. I have downlaoded the binaries from samba.org and I am using the directions found at: http://us4.samba.org/samba/ftp/Binary_Packages/AIX/ The directions dont specify installing the base. WHen I try to install the pware 3.0.24, it fails due to required packages missing. I do not see a way to get opt-samba-base installed. Included below is the

AIX Testers Needed.
Hello AIX folks, I am changing the packaging of Samba for AIX. Presently Samba is built with a truckload of static libs and bound up in a package that has no other support for the supporting infrastructure. What I'd like to do instead is make as much of the package dependant upon shared libs and to allow for completeness of the package. In other words, BDB, OpenSSL, OpenLDAP, SASL, KRB5,

rsync-2.5.0 getaddrinfo in AIX4.3?
Anyone have problems with getaddrinfo under AIX4.3? I have built 2.5.0 under linux, HP and VPP without too much in the way of problems. However, AIX4.3 version builds OK but doesn't execute getaddrinfo correctly. Any ideas? Linux Plumbers Conference mini-conf on clustering?
Hi all, what do you think of a half-day / day long miniconference on clustering along LPC? (http://lwn.net/Articles/319215/) It's a bit late, but if noone objects, I'll submit a proposal tomorrow. What topics would you like to see discussed? We probably don't have enough mass to justify our completely own summit, but on-going integration, (lack of) progress since the meeting in

I think it would be better if

still trouble (RE: Compiling R-1.5.0 failed on AIX4.3)
Dear R-help, I deleted `methods' from the list of packages in Makeconf.in and was able to get through the compilation. However, `make check' fails, and R seems to have trouble loading share libs. When starting R, it complained about not finding the X libs and quits. If I specify --gui=none, then it starts but complains about not being able to load the shared lib for `ctest'.

Óscar, Thanks for the help. I think I'm closer now ... hopefully; although I'm still getting the same error. The "gcc -v" output looks very similar to yours now. Do you see any other obvious configuration issues? I don't know what to try next.... $ ~/Desktop/Build/JamCloud/JamCloudServer$ gcc -v Using built-in specs. Yes I can make or tell my customers to install MinGW, but if MinGW is installed, then I don't need LLVM. (More about this further ahead) > You're welcome to think
