FreeBSD kerberos for AD integration: MIT or Heimdal?
I have previously gotten samba 3.0.4 to work with the MIT implementation, now with 3.0.7, the configure is looking for -lgssapi and not finding it. I can get the AD to issue me a kerberos ticket, samba is just complaining about not geing able to find the gssapi library. Does anyone have a tried-and-true approach using the ports system? Thanks, Graham

Winbindd on FreeBSD 4.10 Help
All, First off I would like to say the book "The Official Samba-3 HowTO and Reference Guide" is awesome I purchased it off Amazon a couple of weeks ago. Ok now on to my problem. I have samba installed and configured and joined the domain no problem. When I run wbinfo -u I can see my domain users, when I run wbinfo -g I can see all my domain groups, BUT if I run

Virus in message
Hey this group uses exchange for the mailing list? This can't be true what is with all the virus warnings saying it came from exchange. But not only that it said it was deleted and that is not true when the mail reached me it still had the virus attached and my virus scanner deleted it. When these messages are sent to the group aren't they scanned before being sent to the list? Just

Samba 3.0.10 ADS setup issue
I am attempting to setup Samba 3.0.10 on a Windows 2000 Active Directory domain. The problem I'm having is getting Samba to configure correctly to get the Kerberos library. I've gone through previous posts and have tried doing what others suggested but I still keep getting the error of: "configure: error: libkrb5 is needed for Active Directory support" The current configure

SuSE9.2 Client to AD 2003

But when I go to use mount -t smbfs I get this error. Mounting share failed, smbmnt must be installed suid root for direct user mounts (1000,1000) smbmnt failed:1 Of course I hit Google and the list archives first before

criterion for variable selection in LDA
Hi Since a stepwise procedure for variable selection (as e.g. in SPSS) for a LDA is not implemented in R and anyway I cannot be sure, that all the required assumptions for e.g. a procedure using a statistic based on wilks' lambda, hold (such as normality and variance homogeneity) I would like to ask you, what you would recommend me: shall I e.g. define a criterion such as the error-rate

Moterboard help Please
All, I have been terribly pleased with openbsd 3.2 I was using it as a mail/samba server with postifx on a pentium pro 200 with 1 gig of memory. Well I wanted to add a larger harddrive than what I have in it now only 6.4 gig. Well the machine would not see it and for some reason after hours and hours of trying I can't get a tekram 395UW and a 18gig scsi to be the boot drive and having failed

Samba joins win2k domain but can't authenticate
All I got my samba server to join my win2k domain without any problems. But if I change the config to read security=domain it prompts the user for a username and password. If I change it to security=server it does not prompt for user names. I did some searching in the list came up with a few emails and this website http://www.sugoi.org/bits/index.php?bit_id=10 but still no change. In the /etc/host

causing LMB elections
I've been running samba servers with 200+ W98 machines for some time. I'm changing to W2k and everything was going fine. I've upgraded 40 boxes. One W2k box has started announcing itself as a local master browser for one of the workgroups. A samba server thinks it is master, forcing election. Samba will stop being the LMB for about 3 minutes and then will re-establish itself as

Share is read-only despite read only = no
The owner of a folder (userid gdunn01) is unable to make any changes to it (rename / delete) through Samba despite being listed as having read/write perms. I'm using winbind for username mapping. I feel like I'm missing something simple. ma21cab5# wbinfo -t checking the trust secret via RPC calls succeeded ma21cab5# ls -ld asdfas/ drwxr-xr-x 2 gdunn01 Domain Users 512 Jun 22 08:50

Setting up Winbindd on 3.x
While I haven't gotten to the part that necessarily pertains to samba, I figured people on here may have tried to set this up before I'm trying to connect my freebsd 5.x server to a windows 2003 server. I have been using this tutorial http://oslabs.mikro-net.com/fbsd_samba.html I've gotten down to the part where I run ldapsearch using SSL/TLS and I get this minubian# ldapsearch

OpenLDAP,heimdal kerberos,sasl, wich order?
Hi! I have been reading for about two weeks (maybe I'm reading on the wrong places). I have found as many documents as one could expect describind how to build a LDAPv3 server, or how to build samba with ldap. This far, I have failed, and have a BIG confution in the order in wich the things should go: In one document, they recommend this: samba -> ldap -> sasl -> kerberos
