problem with scannedonly vfs
Hi, I'm using Samba 4.1.6 (version included in last Ubuntu LTS version). I've some directories in a share. One of them has an exe file. In root of my share I've a lnk file to this exe. So I've: /home/share/IntegrDom/IntegrDom.exe and /home/share/Install_Client_Scribe.lnk (which is a link to /home/share/IntegrDom/IntegrDom.exe). This point is important, if I remove this lnk

Confusion berween file and direcory
I have some trouble with a samba 3.5.8 server when setting directory attributes. On a windows XP I execute a small peace of code that calls 'SetFileAttributes' for the directory 'test-dir' located on the samba server. Using log level 10 I find this: [2011/05/26 15:27:02.144060, 3] smbd/process.c:1298 (switch_message) switch message SMBtrans2 (pid 28903) conn 0x7f5e35f0dbb0

Missing files on Windows client side.
In a directory with approximately 6000 files, several files are missing on the Windows side. If I check the directory on Unix (AIX) they are all there. As far as I can see there's nothing strange with this files en I can't see any connection between the missing files. It looks like it's randomly. A few examples of missing files: FAKTREF.10062005.16 (See debug information)

Samba 2.2.7a & CUPS 1.1.18, Win2k is not downloading cups windows drivers
I'm building an new server with CUPS 1.1.18 and Samba 2.2.7a (Both compiled from source) Installed the printer with CUPS and printed a test page with CUPS. Next step make Samba use CUPS. I've used cupsaddsmb command to do this, which completed successful. Running command: smbclient //localhost/print$ -N -U'root%XXXXXXXXX' -c 'mkdir W32X86;put /var/spool/cups/tmp/3e1bf35d1d1f9

File attribute problem 3.0.23
We have a problem with an application that clears the archive bit before writing and sets it after writing. The latter one doesn't succeed if the writer != file owner. Dos filemode is enabled and manually setting is fine. Samba is 3.0.23RC3. Client is XP/SP2. Seems to loose the connection before setting the bit and a new smbd is spawn. Weird permissions problem
Hello, I'm having a permissions problem I just can't quite figure out. I can not access any directory that is owned by my userid if the permissions are 700. If I change them to 770, with my default group on the directory, then I can access the directory. This was working fine with Fedora 19 for several years, and it broke when I upgraded to Fedora 22, and still broken with F23. my

Error copying dot-files to samba share
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all, I'm having a problem copying (overwriting) a dot file to a samba share. When I create a dot file (e.g .project) on a local drive at the XP machine, I'm able to copy the file to the share ONLY if it does not exists there. If the file already exists, Samba refuses to overwrite the file. The reason of this behavior must have something

Problem After Upgrade - NT_STATUS_FILE_IS_A_DIRECTORY
I'm running Samba 3.4.7 on Ubuntu 10.04. This is a recent upgrade and we've starting experience a sporadic problem after this upgrade. When users are browsing through Windows Explorer they sometimes run across folders that appear as unassociated files. This requires the user to click the 'Refresh' button in Windows Explorer to properly see the folders. The files and folders are

3.0.8 and looong logout time
I've got two WinXP SP2 users. Roaming profiles. One of them takes about 25 seconds to log out unless she has made pretty drastic changes to her profile (My Documents, etc). My second user takes upwards of 3 minutes to log out, even if he has just logged in, not opened a thing or made changes, and then logged back out. Below is part of a strace as I don't know what I'm looking

winxp client - directory listing fails
Hello All, I'm having problems accessing getting a directory listing from samba(3.0.23d) with win xp clients. I can mount a share from win xp, create a directory, create a file, edit the file, etc. But listing the directory contents is fickle. If its a very small directory things appear to work fine. But a directory with around 30 files seems to hang and eventually returns "File Not

I'm using samba 3.0.25a on a Solaris 9 box with separate W2K and XP clients accessing a share. The issue I'm having is that not all files appear in folder listings via Explorer/DOS windows on the XP client. This only happens when an app on the W2K side is simulateously accessing/creating files on the same share but not neccessarily in the same folder. I've since run samba in top
