I can create files from XP client that belong to user in "SambaUsers" The user is successfully authenticated by samba and can access his profile. I want him to be able to access the share "p" on samba. Without "valid

BUG? 'valid users' doesn't allow groups from trusted domains
It appears that you cannot include groups from trusted domains in the 'valid users =' directive on a share. Here is the scenario as I experienced it (names have been changed to protect the innocent): Configuration: - Samba 3.0.21b as a member server in a real NT4 domain (security = domain) called 'NTDOMAIN' - NTDOMAIN has a two-way trust with Windows 2003 Active Directory

Can pam_winbind be configured to issue Kerberos tickets on user validation?
Hi I have Samba 3 running on Fedora 4, configured to use pam_winbind to validate user logins against my W2K ADS. Logins are fully functional using names such as adsdomain.adsuser (I have the fullstop character configured as my winbind seperator). This is all working fine. What I would now like to do, is to have a Kerberos ticket from the ADS Kerberos realm issued to the user that has just

auth. username rewriting?
Hello, Now, I'm faced with a problem: I need to be able to login using the same username that I bind against using ldapsearch, and not the sAMAccountName given to me via winbind. ie. to login using one of my AD usernames right now, I issue: su - ADSDOMAIN+username1 but the binddn I use to search the ldap directory is, say, username2: ldapsearch -x -W -D"username2"

samba 3.0.22 default ACL issue
Hi, I use samba 3.0.22 as PDC on Debian with workstations under windows XP SP1 and SP2. I use ACLs to have a fine grained access rules. When I copy a directory from a client to a samba share, default ACLs are forgiven. exemple : after I copy the directory A on the samba share : getfacl A/ # file: A/ # owner: user1 # group: sambausers user::rwx group::--- other::--- default:user::rwx

Samba 3.0.1 ADS/Kerberos problems relating to Win2k/xp browsing to samba server
Hello All, I've been discovering the joys of Samba/ADS integration here (the environment is a chip design concern that has chip simulation tools, many of which run in Linux, but some of which only run in Windows. Winbind, and a Linux based NAS server are the cornerstone through which Windows and Linux elements of the toolchain will be able to seamlessly communicate, once we get all the

last chance...joining XP to samba+ldap domain
I have tried all I can and spent days trying XP to join my domain. I have finally come to a dead end: I don't see any logs in nmbd.log, smbd.log, <xpclient>.log or messages. Everything seems to work perfectly. the only exception to what I said in the last paragraph is the following message in nmbd.log file as I try to join the domain. [2004/06/28 01:17:56, 1]

Samba PDC + ACL : default ACLs ignored on directory
Hi all, I use Debian Sarge and Samba 3.0.22 with ACLs. The server is a PDC. I have about 70 clients workstation running both Windows XP SP1 and SP2. All works pretty good, all but the directory copy, wich forget ACLs in a particular case : When a client copy a local directory on a samba share, the defaults ACLs aren't applied. But this problem comes only when the client local directory

Can't get view samba 3.0 server via winXP, using domain security
I'm sure I'm probably making a common beginner mistake here somewhere, but I'm stumped. The facts: 1. Running samba 3.0.0-2 on rh 7.2. Trying to access shares on the Linux box from a WinXP box. 2. From my linux box, "smbclient //mybox/tmp" connects fine. I can see //mybox in Windows Server Manger, but not via net view or Network Neighborhood on the XP box. If I try

Problems authentication against ADS on a W2K3 Server
I'm trying to get Samba set up to use ADS authentication against a Windows 2003 Server running in native mode. I have successfully joined the domain, and kinit user@MYDOMAIN.DOM works successfully. I can also use smbclient to connect to shares on the local machine, so Samba is basically working. However, when I try to connect from a Windows machine I get [C:\]net use \\unx02\pub The
