Still looking for some suggestions, recommendations or pointers on this issue. Kinda stuck with it. It was working well couple of months back and suddenly stopped working. No known changes were happned on both sides except installing and then uninstalling MS16-077 patch. Thanks, Pradeep On Tuesday, November 1, 2016, Pradeep Rawat <pradeeprawat85 at gmail.com> wrote: > We are running

samba 4.4.2 client can't join 3.x NT4 domain
With the ubuntu security updates on Monday that broke everything, I downgraded my 12.04 3.6x samba packages on my NT4 DC - now my windows 7 domain members can join and function OK and am looking into a 14.04 client that was a member and cannot now join, and the downgrade also failed. So I got 4.4.2 source and built on the system and have tried to join, but it fails. Below is some debug

Issues With User Info and Authentication
Hello, I'm new to the list and hope this is the appropriate place to post this type of question. We've got our environment set up where all of our Unix and Linux hosts get user information and perform authentication against an LDAP directory. I am working on a project to migrate these hosts to instead authenticate against our Active Directory environment (Win 2k8 R2). So far, I've

problem with winbind
Hi, Since 1 month, I tried without any success to configure Samba. My problem is that winbind crashes when I list users and groups. And I think that it is linked to my trusted domains (wbinfo -domain=myADdomain -u works well). The error is the following : [2006/07/11 14:30:29, 3] libsmb/cliconnect.c:cli_session_setup_spnego(757) got principal=machine$@TRUSTEDDOMAIN.COM [2006/07/11

Samba domain join issues
Hi All, I am having an issue with Samba joining an active directory domain. When I run 'net ads join -S mydomaincontrollerFQDN -U adminuser command I get this error: Failed to join domain: failed to lookup DC info for domain 'MYDOMAIN.COM' over rpc: Logon failure The credentials we entered are for sure correct but if we see our domain controller it count it

uid/gid mapping when using AD backend
I would like to have multiple Samba Domain Member servers, acting as file servers, in my Active Directory domain. I've used the Samba-3 By Example and the Official Samba-3 reference to get my first server running, authenticating users to my AD domain, and mapping uid/gid using idmaps through winbind. My problem is that, when I setup a second member server, its idmaps aren't guaranteed to

ads_connect: Program lacks support for encryption type
I'm trying to setup here at my school board an ADS domain member to Windows 2000 Server(s). I've setup Samba, configured nsswitch and /etc/krb5.conf. I'll be including them on this post. When I run << net join ADS -U<administrative_user>, I'm prompted for the password and I get this error message: [2006/01/12 15:21:35, 0] utils/net_ads.c:ads_startup(191)

PDC problems
I have a Samba PDC, running on Centos 4. The samba version is 3.0.23d.30. I have an LDAP backend. Everything seems to be running fine. I recently configured a BDC, to help with load balancing and to act as a backup in the event the PDC went down. Before I installed the PDC, when a new user logged into the domain, their home directory on the PDC was automatically mapped to the drive letter U.

Convert Member Server to DC
I have some hardware running CentOS 7 and Sernet Samba 4.7 that started out as a member server that I would like to make into a 2nd DC. However I am having trouble converting it because it seems I am not removing all the remnants of the client setup. What I thought I would have to do is this: 1.) net ads leave -U administrator 2.) Remove the machine entry on the 1st DC 3.) mv /var/lib/samba

Debian Stable Samba 3.0.5 to 3.0.6 upgrade - broke my config?
I upgraded Samba from 3.0.5 to 3.0.6 using apt & the Debian Stable binary packages on samba.org. Samba server was a member server for a Windows 2000 AD domain. Since then, I have been having problems connecting to it by name (\\TERABYTE) - ip address works fine, but by name I'm prompted for a username/password and nothing works. I'm guessing this is a Kerberos problem, and
