What about ZFS ?
Hi everybody,
I'm looking for information about using GlusterFS with ZFS. I got information that talked about a sort of incompatibility between the both technologies because of unsupported xattr feature in ZFS.
What are the latest news about this ?
Thank you in advance.

Samba and /etc/passwd
Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone knew a way to configure samba so that it does
not use /etc/passwd for a list of users,group id's,etc. I am currently
setting up a server to authenticate against AD. I have that configured
fine. The overall goal here is to provide a samba backup to our
existing fileserverserver. Here is the problem: we need a way to sync
the info in /etc/passwd

Anyone ever experienced a crash where Asterisk debug output a line with all nulls
We have a customer where their VM running Asterisk appears to have crashed. Fortunately, we had some debugging enabled.
The asterisk messages file has this... (in notepad+ the blank line in the middle is all [NUL][NUL] [NUL][NUL]....)

tournaments to dendrograms
Does anyone have (good) experience converting tables of tournament
results into dendrogram-like graphics? Tables, for example, like this:
read.table(url("http://www.econ.uiuc.edu/~roger/research/ncaa/NCAA.d"))
Any pointers appreciated. RK

Please help with winbind setup
I have been (unsuccessfully) trying to get this up and
running for the past few days. I have successfully
setup samba itself NUMEROUS times but this winbind
stuff has me stumped.
I have built a fresh box for this server using Turbo
Linux server 6.5 and samba 2.2.2. I have followed all
the docs and man pages that i could find.
1. I have samba compiled (using --with-winbind
--with-pam) and

DTMF and DISA
Hi Folks,
I'm trying to test out Asterisk overall.
I'm having some problems with DTMF. Currently I'm playing with DISA,
but I'm worried this will happen when I get to implementing AAs etc.
I have a free SIP trunk from IPKall that I'm trying to make work.
I'm able to receive calls, and I've now setup and extension with DISA
and a password.
I connect ok from the

Win2k DC no longer authenticates for Samba shares
I have a win2k domain ... 2 of the client machines are Red Hat (7.3 and
8.0). I set everything up to use the DC to authenticate ID/PW. Everything
worked perfectly until a week or so ago ... Samba would automatically create
a home folder and the whole nine yards. Now I can see the shares on the
Samba machines, but I can't access them ... just prompts for the ID/PW over
and over. I can mount

Users can't map drives after upgrade
Help!
After upgrading to 2.2.3a from 2.2.2, we have a strange problem that's
happening. When users try to map a drive, it asks for the username/password
even though we're using server authenticaiton.
There are lots of messages in the log.<machine name> files complaining
about not being able to open the passwd database

pam_smbpass
Okay - I've got samba working as a PDC with and ldap backend.
I want to have some users not be in ldap (like the built in stuff like
cyrus, mail, lp etc)
I can get that to work with the pam_ldap and pam_unix but pam_smbpass
doesn't seem to return user_unknown as i expect for users who are not in
the ldap database
does this make sense?

Rake Tasks
Hi Everyone,
I just need some further help clarifying a custom rake task I''m building
and the logistics of how it should be working.
I''ve created a custom rake task in libs/tasks called scraper.rake which
so far just contains the following:
desc "This task will parse data from ncaa.org and upload the data to our
db"
task :scraper => :environment do

problem with Samba in domain
Hello!
I have a samba fileserver (Debian Woody, Samba 2.2.3a) that I am
trying to join into an NT domain (smbpasswd -j ...); the command says that
it joined the domain successfully.
Then I setup security=domain, workgroup name etc. as outlined in the samba
howtos. However whenever I try to access a share on the Samba server I am
prompted for a password (even though I already logged in through

cvs version / testing
Hello,
I pulled the latest from cvs today and ran several tests
and added more options to the CFLAGS in the Makefile. To
start with, I ran valgrind against sshd & it comes up with
this:
