Error when Synchronising
I'm trying ot get Windows 2K off line folders to work but it fails when writing a file back to the Samba share reporting that access is denied on the share. But I can copy and replace the file manually without a proplem. Running Samba 2.2.7-security-rollup-fix on Redhat 8 (upto date) Samba Logfile for Machine account is below. Any ideas? Samba 3 joined to samba 4 - problems with permissions on S3 server
Hi all, I am testing samba3 joined to a samba 4 domain controller. Most things appear to be working okay - just not printer drivers and file permissions. Machines can join the domain and use resources on the Samba 3 server, etc. I can change permissions to my hearts content on the Samba4 shares, just not Samba3. I cannot however set any permissions on shares or add printer drivers to the Samba

IE9 download manager and Samba share
Hello, I have set up a Windows 2008 R2 domain controller and Samba file server (2:3.5.8) acting as a domain member (security = ads). Kerberos is working fine, access to user's directory on Samba server and saving files to mapped drive is OK. But when I try to download something using IE9, the download manager cannot save any file to the network share. Does not matter if the user belongs

Problems with Word 200 and Samba 2.2.6
I'm hoping someone has some insight into a problem I'm currenty having, which is: No one is able to edit (in place) documents with Word 2000 on a samba (2.2.6) disk share. A user can open word and save a document to the share, but when they go to edit the document Word says "Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error". From Microsoft KB Q211632 it appears

Lots of "smbd/vfs.c:reduce_name(985)" in log.smbd
Hi. I subscripted just now to the mailing list, but I've been using a Samba file server (PDC) on Debian for about 2.5 years now. Users are almost all WinXP SP3. No users are complaining but since I changed everything to one share with group permission on underlying directories I see a lot of errors in log.smbd. Anyone knows what the log message exactly means? I guess it has something to

problem with NT-4.0
Hello, we have a Linux box running Samba 2.2.7a and several clients running Windows NT 4 WS (last service pack) and Windows 95 (last service pack too). All clients are running a program made in ACU-Cobol for Windows and sometimes the NT machines abort the execution reporting a cobol blocking error. This usually results in broken indexes... We have traced the execution and haven't found the
