uninitialized constant ExceptionNotifiable deploy_with_migrations in TEST
I have installed the exception_notification plugin, and it works fine
when system is deployed to production. and I have not problems
deploying to dev, and not test environments. However, when I try to do
a deploy_with_migrations, I get the uninitialized constant
ApplicationController::ExceptionNotifiable error.
There must be something ''special'' about the test env, but I

expect_render twice in views
I found this:
controller.expect_render(:partial => ''thing'', :collection => things).once
but I am trying to expect_render twice in my view spec:
template.expect_render(:partial => ''order_details'').twice
This doesn''t work as the template.expect_render call seems to be
returning an array. Is it possible to expect the rendering of a
partial

RSpec view test for :partial with :locals?
I''m currently working on some RSpec view tests and I''m having problems
with expect_render. Most of the expect_render''s work fine, but in one
of my views I have:
<%= render :partial => "user_cloud", :locals => {:user =>
@featured_user} %>
I see that expect_render supports ":object" or ":collection" for the

How do I call the exception_notifier from my own rescue_action_in_public ?
Hi all!
I''ve been using the excellent exception_nofitier (
http://agilewebdevelopment.com/plugins/exception_notifier ) a while
now, but want to change the way it interacts with my application.
I now have my own rescue_action_in_public which takes me to a "Error.
Describe the problem"-page. After filling out some user data the user
can then click on submit. This is where the

controller.expect_render has me beat!
Hi,
A controller has a method with the following
def update
...
if @config.update_attributes( params[:new_config] )
redirect_to :action => :index
else
* render :action => :edit, :id => params[:id] # this line here*
end
...
end
The example has the following
it ''should render the "edit" config url on an unsuccessful save''

NameError when running exception_notification plugin?
Hi all,
I installed the exception_notification plugin via ''script/plugin
install'', and when configure it and try to run it, I get:
NameError
uninitialized constant ExceptionNotifiable
This error occured while loading the following files:
application.rb
exception_notifiable.rb
In my application.rb, I added this:
include ExceptionNotifiable

expect_render(...).and_return(''x'')
Hi,
I''m trying to spec a controller method which renders some rjs as part
of a render :update block. The problem I''m having is that stub_render
or expect_render don''t seem to allow and_return to work.
The controller method does:
if @thing.save
render :update do |page|
page.insert_html :bottom,

How to use expect_render?
Hi:
I am a rspec beginner. I have scratched my head for the whole afternoon,
trying to figure out a way of writing render expectation in controller spec.
However, I failed. It kept telling me that the ''expect_render'' was an
undefined method. I have installed rspec 1.0.8 and rspec_on_rails as well.
Below is the controller to be tested.

Exception notifier not working
I installed the exception notifier via:
/script/plugin install -x exception_notification
It resides in the vendor/exception_notification directory (as
advertised). I''ve configured environment.rb with the following:
ExceptionNotifier.exception_recipients = %w(blakemiller-uBzjpPW2m0pBDgjK7y7TUQ@public.gmane.org)
ExceptionNotifier.sender_address = %("Application Error"

template.expect_render
Trunksters,
I just added a couple of methods to ActionView::Base in Spec::Rails
(as of r2136) that lets you do this in view examples:
describe ''/things/index.html.erb'' do
it "should render _thing with a collection of things" do
assigns[:things] = things = [Object.new]
template.expect_render(:partial => ''thing'', :collection => things)

changes to the exception_notification plugin
first off, this thing rocks. What a great little addition.
It is missing one use case that I could find, and that is where a 404
occurs because a RoutingError occured at the controller level. If it
happens after the controller has been found (say a view or ID is
wrong), then this works. But if application.rb is not called, then it
goes back to the default rails code instead of through the

expect_render, why does there need to be a warning
There is a warning on the web site about expect_render and stub_render:
"WARNING: expect_render and stub_render, while very useful, act
differently from standard Message Expectations (a.k.a. mock
expectations), which would never pass calls through to the real
object. This can be very confusing when there are failures if you''re
not aware of this fact, because some calls will be

Specs don''t find modules when using the secure_actions or ssl_requirement plugin
Hello,
I''m trying the secure_actions plugin (or ssl_requirements)
I''m installed the plugin, and added the include in application controller:
class ApplicationController < ActionController::Base
include ExceptionNotifiable
include AuthenticatedSystem
include SecureActions
...
but when I try to run the specs I got this error:

Problems with expect_render
Hi there,
I''ve been working with RSpec for about a week now, and the process of
moving from a Test::Unit + Mocha setup to an RSpec + Mocha
environment has been pretty straightforward.
Except, I''m having problems with using template.expect_render.
I have Mocha enabled with:
> config.mock_with :mocha
in spec_helper. And then I have a view spec which looks like this:

Ruby 1.8.6 + Rails 1.2.3 + ErrorNotification == NameError !?
Hallo Everybody,
I updated recently to the latest versions of Ruby and Rails. Now it
seems to me that the plugin ErrorNotification doesn''t run anymore. I
even tried to create a new project, installed the plugin and added the
following line to my development.rb:
ExceptionNotifier.exception_recipients = "adress-QPFuF50DZNq+XT7JhA+gdA@public.gmane.org"
Cherry-picking mocks?!
A colleague just came in and asked me about a problem he was having with
stub_render, which reminded me of another issue he had a week or so ago,
which seems related.
Let me start with the earlier issue.
He was trying to write specs for a method which sends the same message
possibly multiple times, but with different arguments under different
calling conditions. He wanted to write

Problem with exception notification with Rails edge....
I''m having hard time to make it work. To test it I did force an error
in my controller but nothing happened. I did include the
ExceptionNotifiable in my application.rb
Anything else to do to at least see come in that plugin when an error
occurs?
