Cannot access share
Running openldap/samba/smbldap-tools/debian etch: The users can access their home drives and logon.bat maps but not the share. I can see the share in explorer but prompts for a password when try to access it. I had them working fine a while back. The only user that can access the share is admin. The only thing that's happened that I can think of is that a script changed the whole directory

Cannot access share]
Actually what I've discovered is that the user is able to access the share and access the shared folders where its a member of it's respective group. However, I have a weird problem where 1. user logon.bat does not map shared drive to S: and 2. under the domain name/server in My Network Places there are the folders in the share as well as a subfolder called "shared". Hide shares from some clients
Hello people! I need to do something, but I don't know if it's possible. If you can help me, I'll be so happy! :-) I have many shares in my samba server, and I control all the access to them by user, with "valid users", and it works so fine. But my manager wants more. He wants that I hide the shares that the users don't have access. For example, look to this share:

Missing mailboxes after migration from Maildir -> mdbox
I migrated from existing dovecot Maildir to dbox. After adding separator to the namespace it migrated all Inbox mails, but the other mailboxes like user-created ones and "Junk", "Sent" and so on has not been migrated. Any advice would be helpful, here is my dovconf: https://pastebin.com/rDSeBcLe My migration I made using: 1. Edit dovecot.conf with new mdbox and adding

If a user modifys an project only this user can open the project. What i see is (for example): drwxrwx--- 2 admin bau 4 16. Feb 2014 test1 works drwxrwx---+ 2 admin bau 4 27. Aug 12:58 test2 doesn't work. getfacl

opendir(somedir/somefile): Not enough space -- why?
I am attempting to use rsync to copy a large filesystem from an HP-UX server to a Linux server with more than enough filespace. This operation fails. A small directory from the same HP-UX server can be transfered just as expected. The HP-UX server is the source. It has 1Gb RAM - the output of bdf for the volume the source files is on is: Filesystem kbytes used avail %used Mounted

hide unwriteable files and windows xp
I need to hide the listing of files to multiple users, but only allow access to the file if you know the exact path and filename of the file in the form of \\server\share\filename.txt. I am using the hide unwriteable files = yes flag to accomplish this and it works as expected with windows 7. However, windows XP gives the error that windows cannot find the file. Is there a different setting, or

dynamic public directory
Hi all I''ve been using the howto on using subdomains as account keys to make it easy for my users to access their accounts. I was wondering if it might also be possible to assign different public directories based on the subdomain. so for example, when a user enters user1.example.com/index.html rails would look in some_dir/user1/public for index.html and when it''s user2 it

Redirected Folders not working for Desktop
Did you "hide" the share (browseable = no) Looks ok to me, what i see be low. And what i supsected. Event id 502. Do you see: Error details: “This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object.”. If so, or correct the rights, or set gpo. Or read throug this side, and fix your rights setup.

How do I hide source when I distribute rails?
Hello! If I need to distribute rails projects to our customers, and I want to hide source codes, how can I accomplish it? My manager is worried about our competitors stealing our codes. I know this is kinda weird situation because normally you build a web site and sell the service. But we plan to sell the application itself. Thanks. Sam -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Hide empty Samba shares?
When a partition mounted to a shared by Samba folder is dismounted, Samba keeps sharing that empty folder. It creates a security hazard, since files can still be saved to that empty folder, and overwritten next time (lost) when the original partition is auto mounted again to the same folder. Its also confusing for most users to browse empty shares - no normal person would understand why
