background lpq update not working
I'm using several 'netbios aliases' with my server, only one of them
offers the printers.
In this enviroment, the new background lpq update, indroduced in 3.0.6,
does not work correctly.
I think, this happens, because the sending and the receiving process has
different lists of services, so the service number could not correctly
recognized.
As a workaround, i changed

Domain Admins can't modify ldapsam entries
Domain Admins are not allowed to modify the ldapsam database via usrmgr.
lib/smbldap.c: smbldap_open: cannot access LDAP when not root..
Is this by design?

What is "WARNING: Got 200 OK on REGISTER that isn't a register"?
Hi
Last couple of days I received the subject "WARNING" message on a
home-based asterisk pbx.
Is someone spoofing a "register" method on port 5060? Or, is this "warning"
something random (sort of like sporadic alarms on an analog port)?
(This "warning" message is from chan_sip.c).
Am running asterisk V1.4.18; (the hardware is an AMD 64 X2 and a

a simple Asterisk AMI interface with Delphi (or Lazarus+FreePascal)
Hi Everyone,
Those of you who have a simple home-based Asterisk box might
be interested in a "simple" Win32 (Win2K or WinXP) interface to
the AMI manager. The quick-start versions merely require
unzipping with NO Installation - hence, NO Uninstall (i.e., no
registry writes at any time by the install nor by the program).
(Unfortunately) the INSTALL version does write to the

Samba panics after error connecting to cups
Hi,
We have an issue with Samba panicking after an error connecting to
CUPS (see log below).
Samba 3.0.7
CUPS 1.1.20
Debian Woody
After the panic, CUPS is still oparational, but not Samba. I have to
kill -9 the smbd process befor I can restart it using the init
scripts.
Any pointers welcome.

Can't delete users which have the displayName attribute in ldapsam
Hi,
i just migrated my NT Domain to samba (3.0.20) with ldapsam. Now, when i
try to delete a user via usrmgr, i get an 'access denied' error. The log
says:
Object class violation (attribute 'displayName' not allowed)
And thats true. I have 'ldap delete dn = no' in the configfile, and
hence only some attributes are deleted. The list of these attributes is
in lib/smbldap.c,

Hi list,
)2nd try bcs. of missing attachements).
Following (very strange) problem:
An ordinary windows user has mapped a drive F: on \\LUN1\Programme
(running samba-3.0.20b-3 debian). The program "F:\Network\PMail
V3\Pegasus Mail\winpm-32.exe" is being started, this works.
But after about 10 minutes, the same program start fails with "invalid

Print queue show jobs when queried from windows, nothing in cups
We have a print server running RHEL 4, w/ samba-3.0.33-0.15.el4
When viewed from windows, one queue on the system has the "remains" of 264
print jobs - some dating back to April, but I can't find where the
information is coming from. Apparently the jobs print fine, but then the
information sticks in the queue information.
Running lpq on the Samba system shows:

strange DOS-Error 58
Hi,
based on Bart Lagerweij's ( www.nu2.nu ) bootdisk, I've created a small
DOS system that users can start by booting from network ( PXE ). The
system is configured to map a network drive from a Suse 9.0 Pro / Samba
server with various tools on it. The connection is anonymous.
Until recently everything worked fine but suddenly there are strange
errors:

Server crash results in no printing (SuSE, Samba 3.0.4)
(yes, I know it's an old version of Samba but I *really* don't want to
mess about upgrading right now)
The server in question (SuSE Enterprise Linux 9) got itself in a tizz
last night and was restarted cleanly via the shutdown -r command this
morning. Everything comes back up, including Samba, and all is fine.
Except that no-one can print.
Nothing has changed in any of the

Samba Process stops while trying to print to a CUPS
I have a Linux RHEL 7.8 server that has been having issues with CUPS
printing with Samba.
A few notes:
- Samba Version 4.10
- CUPS Version 1.6.3
- Windows Connecting Client - Windows Server 2016
- I do see the print job making it to the configured path in the
smb.conf file
- I am able to manually print to the CUPs printer
- Therefore I know Samba is working, and CUPs are

Samba printing, I just don't get it
I'm sorry for asking a really newbie question here. But I'm just
missing something I guess. I've read the HOWTO for 3.0.0 and either I
missed it or I just didn't understand it.
I have 3.0.1Pre1 on RH 9 "Machine A" working as a domain controller with
a win2000 SP4 box. I made a USB local CUPS printer on RH 9 "Machine B".
