Workgroup Browsing Issue and wins on 3.0.6
Hi,
I am having an issue browsing my work group, i have made the samba
server the master browser and it wins the elections. As far as i can
tell from the nmbd.logs it is also collecting hosts for the workgroup
but when you try to list the workgroup this error is recorded in the
messages log :

Logging into WIndows 2000 ADS from Linux Clients
Hi everyone,
I want to convert some 50 new machines that an organization is getting into Fedora Linux workstations.
This is the current setup:
The organization currently has one Primary Windows 2000 ADS and 2 numbers of Windows 2000 servers acting as Backup domain servers.
There are currently some 50 workstations already in the network and these are all Windows 2000 professional machines.

[LLVMdev] 'make check' failed with: ... PHI node entries do not match predecessors! ...
Hi Henrik,
You don't have the latest C/C++ Front End Source code. Please update
from CVS to get the fix for the 2005-06-15-ExpandGotoInternalProblem.c
test. Note the date of the test (5 days ago).

Strange Fedora Booting problem: can not mount "LABEL=*" partitions
Hi,
Just got Fedora FC1 vanilla 2.4.25kernel+libata8patch booting problems, FC1 complains that it can not automatically find&found partitions specified with "LABEL=" in /etc/fstab, and then falls me into repair mode. In the repair mode I can mount it manually without any problems. More interesting are: 1) I have several partitions specified with "LABEL=*" in

Moved samba doesn't work
Moved samba (acting as a standalone system) from a RH9 system to a FC1
system. It wont authenticate the users. Here is more of the specifics:
1. Users log into a Samba PDC.
2. Login scripts setup their mappings
3. Some mappings are on the PDC (these still work)
4. Some mappings are on the standalone server.
5. The version of samba on RH9 is 2.2.7
6. The version of samba on FC1 is 3.0.4

[LLVMdev] 'make check' failed with: ... PHI node entries do not match predecessors! ...
Hi,
Now, I've build the tools and the cfe. However, 'make check' gave me the
attached results. Summarized as follows:
# of expected passes 1081
# of unexpected failures 26
# of expected failures 32
I configured llvm with following options: '--prefix=/home/hb/llvm/
--enable-targets=host-only'. I used gcc version 3.4.2 to build the tools and
cfe. The cfe is version:

Hi Reid,
Now, I've removed the file and updated the source tree with this command:
cvs -z3 -d :pserver:anon at llvm-cvs.cs.uiuc.edu:/var/cvs/llvm update -PdR llvm
However, the file still exits.
Henrik.

Samba woes with file xcopy from Win2K
I'm trying to do some quick backups from a Win2K laptop to a Fedora Core
1 desktop but it ain't working. The backups are just a bunch of
xcopy's. Most of them run fine but two fail and I don't understand why.
It appears that xcopy is attempting to create directories in both
cases. When I run the backup targeting a Win98 desktop there is no
problem.
Here are two examples of

Problem accessing win2k3 shares -- permission denied!
Hi all,
I couldn't access win2k3 server shares from my FC2 box. It's got default Fedora Core 2 installation.
Kernel: 2.6.5-1.358
Samba: samba-3.0.3-5
I've tried with both smbfs and cifs options. This is what happens,
With smbfs:
$ mount -t smbfs -o username=admin //ServerIP/sharename /mnt/sharename
password:

$ ls /mnt/sharename

binary RPMs
Hi everybody.
I know that we can normally install source rpms designed for RH9 and FC1,
but can we also install the binary RPMs for RH9 and/or FC1 on a CentOS 3
system ?

mkdep vs. makedepend
Where I work, we have an application that has been merrily running
away (and being built) on FC1 (yes, you read that right).
One of my assignments is to bring this up to CentOS, but on my first
effort, I ran into this interesting "feature." The original build
process (FC1) uses mkdep to generate the dependency files that are
subsequently used by the makes to build the app. mkdep does

ext3 partition compatibility
Recently, I had some experiences that raises the question as to how compatible
(how safe) it is to mount and then read/write a partition using a system such
as FC1 or debian where the partition was created under FC3.
1. I recently attempted to run e2fsck running on a FC1 system against a FC3
ext3 partition ... the program refused to run. When I took the e2fsprogs
package from FC3 and

Upgrading Fedora Core 1 to CentOS
Yes it is all the reason why we want to change to Centos (longer EOL), and
we think the stability in RHE should be worth something. It's not always the
best to run the newest and the best especially on a production server.
So is there anyway to do it other than from yum or to manually force install
all the rpm downloaded in the cache?
Thanks.

cvs command failure on 5.2
Another little problem I am now having on CentOS 5.2 that I was not
seeing on FC8:
[mrichter at sushi lane]$ cvs update
poll: protocol failure in circuit setup
cvs [update aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages if any)
I could understand if there was something that had changed from FC1 to
CentOS 5.2, but if it works in FC8, why not here?
Here's what's in the CVS

question about ingress police
Hi stef and all
I want measure the policy perfomance for video traffic on mpls diffserv
network. there are two different polices for video packet
1. Video packets that are marked that are over the limit are to be
rejected at the edge router.
2. Video packets that are marked that are over the limit are to be
downgraded as best effort and are sent through.
Before video enter my mpls
