Winbind problem related with old libnss_winbind.so and pam_winbind.so version.
Hello, In my log.winbind I'm getting several messages like this one: [2003/12/30 18:19:00, 0] nsswitch/winbindd.c:process_loop(725) process_loop: Invalid request size from pid 12913: 1304 bytes sent, should be 1568 This usually means that you are running old wbinfo, pam_winbind or libnss_winbind clients I suppose that the problem may be cause by old version of pam_winbind and

Illustrating kernel distribution in wheat ears
Dear all R2.10 WinXP I have a dataset dealing with the way different wheat cultivars build their yield. Wheat ears are organised in spikelets where the spikelets can be numbered from the bottom, with even numbers on one side and odd on the other. I know how many kernels there were in each spikelet after some months spent counting them... Now I want to illustrate the differences between the

Bash script to mark all mail read in Maildir + Dovecot
Hi, I'm writing a script to mark all new mail read, including all mail in folders, for my system which uses Maildir and Dovecot. The reason for this script is that I use Google Mail at work, which forwards to my SMTP/IMAP system at home. When I've finished my last check of GMail at work, I want to be able to quickly mark all mail as read at home too. Basically this script moves

vignette typesetting issue
Hi I am preparing a vignette, and I am finding that LaTeX ties (that is, the tilde symbol, "~", used to tell LaTeX not to make a newline in the output), are appearing as actual tildes. This is not desired behaviour for me. Thus the PDF includes things like this: ". . . taken directly from~Oakley (1999)....". [this typeset as "taken directly

Distorted Title Bar in Wine
Hi, I installed Wine 0.9.30 using Automatix 2 onto Xubuntu Edgy primarily so I could run IE 5-6 for testing purposes. I then installed IEs4Linux. It all works fine, although I still feel a sense of horror to see IE on my linux desktop, but the title bars are all messed up for both winecfg and IE. The link below shows a screenshot of the effect: http://people.aapt.net.au/~adjlstrong/wine.png

3.0.3 Pure Samba Domain. Servers can't list and don't recognize d omain users.
We have a Samba PDC (Mandrake 9) a BDC (RH 7.3) and a Memberserver (Solaris 2.8). A configuration which is working OK in 3.0.1 seems to be broken in 3.0.3. Everything (except NTLM authentication) has been working fine. After installing 3.0.3 you cannot list domain users and the member server doesn't recoginize users as domain members. wbinfo gives the following results On PDC, BDC and

Samba 3 & ADS current capabilities [adr]
Andrew, Thanks for your response. This reply is actually not a request for additional help. After much searching throught the lists and Google along with a lot of experimentation, I think I've got it (mostly) figure out. This post is just an effort to help others who might be struggling with the same issues as I was. I'm sure it's far from perfect and if anyone has suggestions on

winbindd stays at 100% CPU having joined a domain
[ Please would anyone replying to this maintain the Cc list here as my dear colleague is not subscribed to this mailing list. ] Hello all, I am trying to track down an oddity with winbindd. We're using samba only to join a given domain -- so the config file is very minimal, as per: [global] workgroup = TEDDYBEARS netbios name = SMOOTHWALL realm = TEDDYBEARS.LOCAL security = ads

Winbind doesn't authenticate users -2.2.4/RH 7.2
I have winbind authenticating against a W2K Domain Controller. It works just fine with 2.2.3. After upgrading to 2.2.4 I can no longer authenticate agains a W2K domain account. Everything compiles, installs, and starts successfully Under 2.2.4. wbinfo -u gives a correct list of users, wbinfo -t verifies that the secret is good. Howerver, running 'getent passwd' and 'getent

problem with authentification and winbind
Hi, I want to use winbind for authentification. The samba server (solaris 2.6, samba version 2.2.4) is a member server in a W2K domain. I followed the steps in the Solaris-Winbind-HOWTO.txt of Naag Mummaneni. Joining the domain was successfull and wbinfo -t returnes secret is good. wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g shows the domain users and groups. But getent passwd and getent group only shows the

Cisco IOS and racoon
I am trying to get a tunnel from a cisco 1760 with IOS 12.2.15.t13 to a freebsd 4.9 install with racoon. I have package version freebsd-20040408a and internal version 20001216 in my log file. I posted the full racoon and cisco log below my configs. Racoon keeps saying: 2004-07-26 16:24:03: DEBUG: isakmp.c:2295:isakmp_printpacket(): begin. 2004-07-26 16:24:03: DEBUG:

sshd key exchange security
I was reading https://weakdh.org/sysadmin.html They also have a very interesting paper as a PDF. Anyway it appears that most ssh servers, when using DHE key exchange, use the 1024-bit Oakley Group 2 and there is suspicion the NSA has done the pre-computations needed to passively decrypt any tls communication using DHE with that particular prime group. They recommend setting the following:

Everything works if I use prime256v1 or secp521r1. This is a limitation in OpenSSL and not something we can really do anything about. > >

R CMD check for packages in a bundle
Hi [MacOsX 10.4.6; R-2.2.1] I have a bundle that comprises three packages. I want to run R CMD check on each one individually, as it takes a long time to run on all three. I am having problems. The bundle as a whole passes R CMD check, but fails when I cd to the bundle directory and run R CMD check on a package directory. The whole bundle passes: octopus:~/scratch% R CMD check
