samba-3.0.23d server doesn't join in domain
Hi, We are testing the samba-3.0.23d in a samba server as role member in a domain with PDC (samba-3.0.20) and ldap as backend. The first tests don't left us join the machine in the domain, the following is showed: [root@machinetest bin]# ./net rpc testjoin -d 10 [2006/11/24 12:28:26, 5] lib/debug.c:debug_dump_status(391) INFO: Current debug levels: all: True/10 tdb: False/0

Join AD: no logon server
Hello, I am trying to join my server to a Win2k AD domain. I have configured kerberos and can get a ticket but when I try to join the AD I get the error "Failed to join domain: No logon servers" as detailed below. I have searched the archives and google and followed some suggestions to get my files into the correct format but still have a problem. I am using Samba version 3.0.32-0.fc8

Trying to get ADS authentication working.
I have been trying in vain to get ADS domain authentication working. I can't figure out what is wrong and have read the docs and looked through the mailing lists. I'm not sure why better documentation hasn't been written on the web site for the ADS feature since it's pretty spectacular to be able join a Samba server natively to an AD domain. I have successfully joined the samba

Administrator->root mapping not working on 3.0.10 (3.0.7 fine)
We are using samba 3 on NetBSD with security=domain authenticating against Windows 2003. We have a username map of "root = administrator". In all previous versions of samba tested (2.2.x and 3.0.x), this means when we log on as administrator, we have root access and see the root share. With 3.0.10, we are continually prompted for a password. Log from 3.0.7 below: [2005/01/06 14:25:58,

Can't see shares on a server member
Hi team, I'm dealing with AS/U as a member server on a Samba 3.0.20 PDC. Jonction seems ok, and from the member server I can see PDC's shares (with net view) and authenticate user (with net logon user passwd /domain:domainname). On the other side, I fell into timeout when running smbclient -L member from the PDC. Here is a log.nmbd loglevel 10 from PDC as there is no other log

Problem with smbclient->MSDOS Server
Hi All, Here's an interesting one... I need to be able to connect smbclient on a linux machine to a dos based machine, which is running MSCLIENT and the WG1049 patch. I can browse to the machine and see all the files from Network Neighbourhood in Windows, but if I try and go in with: smbclient \\GAUGE1\C, or even just smbclient -L GAUGE1 all I get is: Added interface ip=10.0.1.1

Could not join the domain - Samba and Openldap
Our PDC accidentally crashed and to eliminate down time, I quickly set up one of the BDC to be the new PDC. I copied all the configuration file of PDC to the BDC. These files are slapd.conf, ldap.conf, smb.conf, etc.... Now that the PDC is up and running again, I want to put it back to the way it was since the BDC did not run to a functional state anyway. Here is a snippet of the debug when I

Having a problem ...
Running a Windows 2000 domain; recently we've made some security changes to deny anonymous users from being able to get at our user list. It would appear that one of my Domain Controllers hadn't been rebooted after that security change, and now that it has been rebooted, I can't mount smb shares off of one of our if the security setting is in place. On a Windows 2000 Domain

Problem with network browsing
SMBv1 (the anonymous thing behind network neighborhood) because of the massive security problems it caused was decprecated. Microsoft came up with network neighborhood and they've shut it down due to their bad implementation. Samba, likewise, doesn't support SMBv1 by default. net view can see server, but nmblookup '*' can't find it!
I have an XP Pro box on my LAN, and I'm trying to figure out why nmblookup '*' can't see it. I'm writing a script that finds all the shares on the LAN and mounts them, and it works great except for this one box. On another windows box, when I run "net view", the XP box is listed as I expect. On my linux box, when I run "nmblookup -A 192.168.0.111" it

If you have 1 member server, you could enabe nmbd in that server. Or install : llmnrd on linux and/or avahi-deamon if you dont have a member. And make sure you can use "proxy dns" as in, The primary DNS domain on linux should match (see in windows) CMD: ipconfig /all The : - primay dns suffix - DNS Suffix search order Then you are able to use \\hostname or \\hostname.FQ.DN.TLD

A reasonable alternative is to run Christgau's excellent Web Service Discovery host daemon (wsdd) on the samba server and make sure the Function Discovery Provider Host and Function Discovery Resource Publication services are running on the Windows 10 machines. Get wsdd from here: https://github.com/christgau/wsdd.git You can then stop and disable the nmbd on the samba machines as it's
