Two problems with Samba in AD realm
Hello list.
I recently moved to an AD environment. I'm still keeping a samba servers
to make my cups-managed printers available to windows users, rather than
duplicating configuration with a Windows print service. But I'm facing
two problems, probably due to the way we manage AD.
First, all my host belong to a Unix-managed DNS domain
(msr-inria.inria.fr), not to the windows-managed

Loading an S object into R
I hope you'll all forgive me for displaying my severe lack of knowledge on this topic, and I can't really provide much in the way of reproducible code.
A colleague of mine has asked if I know how to import an S object into R. The object is stored in a file named 'pre3.f' When I open the file as a text document I get what's printed below. Being one of those young bucks with

samba, ADS and privileges management
Hello list.
I once had a samba server acting as a PDC, a mapping between my NT
'Domain admins' and Unix 'admins' groups, and everything worked perfectly.
Now I got a new shiny samba server acting as a print server only, member
of an AD domain, and I can't have the members of 'Domain admins' group
manage printing drivers on the server, whereas the Administrator

Need help interpreting output from rcorrp.cens with Cox regression
Dear R-listers,
I am an MD and clinical epidemiologist developing a measure of comorbidity severity for patients with liver disease. Having developed my comorbidity score as the linear predictor from a Cox regression model I want to compare the discriminative ability of my comorbidity measure with the "old" comorbidity measure, Charlson's Comorbidity Index. I have nearly 10,000

Concordance Index - interpretation
Hello everyone.
This is a question regarding generation of the concordance index (c
index) in R using the function rcorr.cens. In particular about
interpretation of its direction and form of the 'predictor'.
One of the arguments is a "numeric predictor variable" ( presumably
this is just a *single* predictor variable). Say this variable takes
numeric values.... Am I

wine quit working; says "unhandled exception"
Hi!
I have been a moderate user of WINE for a few months and it has worked
fairly well for the couple of applications that I have tried to run. My
SuSE 8.1 Linux laptop is laid out as
/ linux (reiserfs)
/mnt/win windows c: (vfat32)
/mnt/chunk windows d: (vfat32)
and I have previously had no problems either running WINE or booting
into Win98. I have been able to call my program as

rcorrp.cens and U statistics
I have two alternative Cox models with C-statistics 0.72 and 0.78. My question is if 0.78 is significantly greater than 0.72. I'm using rcorrp.cens. I cannot find the U statistics in the output of the function. This is the output of the help example:
> x1 <- rnorm(400)
> x2 <- x1 + rnorm(400)
> d.time <- rexp(400) + (x1 - min(x1))
> cens <- runif(400,.5,2)

Annoteting graphs using text
Dear All,
I am new to R and am trying to learn how to create functions using R.
Below is code which calculates Lin's Concordance Coefficient. After
I calculate the coefficient I want to create a scatter plot which
annotates the coefficient along with preceding text onto the plot.
The below code doesn't seem to work. If I use only the object
'lincc' on the text command it works

Asterisk not logging originating IP of a brute force attack
Why do attacks from the Internet get shown in the Asterisk logs with
myAsteriskServerIP instead of the attacker's IP?! Really useful for
blocking them, that is... Example:

5550000<sip:5550000 at myAsteriskServerIP>;tag=ab8537ae

FXO Hangs up automatically
Hi,
I'm having problems using a TDM400P Card. I put my SIM card in a Nokia
Premicell and connected it to a TDM400P card but when I make calls to
the number, it hangs up automatically. The card also can't call out.
Any ideas? I've searched the archives without much success. I
appreciate all your help.
Details:
I'm using Asterisk 1.2.17 on Fedora Core release 5 (Bordeaux). On an

A long digression on packages
Hello again,
First, thanks for the help that got the latest plotrix package finished.
I had been planning to write something about packages since Scott
Waichler offered the gantt.chart function. Then Ben Bolker (who helped
me to write the axis.break function) asked if I would be willing to
include some of his plotting functions and almost immediately after that

Capistrano: can''t get remote connection to work
I can''t get rake remote:exec ACTION=setup to complete successfully. I
suspect there is a problem in authentication.
The problem however isn''t RSA authentication, see earlier message:

I renamed my .ssh dir on the remote server and am now connecting via

Getting data loaded
Hi,
I have been informed of a bug in the concord package, in that the data files
containing the tabulated critical values for Kendall's W are not loaded on
the command library(concord).
I had assumed that the lines in install.R would correspond to the commands to
load data in R, e.g.
data(Wcrit01)
data(Wcrit05)
While these work on the command line, I get the errors:
library(concord)
