XP SP2 offline files sync delay (again)
I'm running Samba 3.0.7 on Mandrakelinux 9.2 as a PDC, with a few shares from the PDC and more on a separate Mandrakelinux 10.0 member file server, also running Samba 3.0.7. The passdb backend is LDAP and clients are all Windows XP Professional SP1. Except for the below, everything works great! We make heavy use of offline files, and with Windows XP SP1, all is well. However, when I

XP SP2 and slow logins/offline files sync: RPC changes?
I posted a while back (twice, actually), about some long delays with offline files sync and, to a lesser extent, domain logins with Windows XP SP2. This is Samba 3.0.7 (ldapsam backend) on Mandrakelinux 9.2 and 10.0, with XP SP1 clients. I make use of WINS and everything works fine for SP1 clients. Here's what I found since then: after the client is joined to the Samba (NT) domain,

Please help me decipher a two-packet NetBT conversation...
My clients are Windows XP SP1 and SP2, members of a Samba-PDC NT domain (tested 3.0.7 and 3.0.10, same result). Attached is ethereal output of a two packet client-server exchange that takes place when an offline files sync is done. SP1 quickly does this exchange twice - first broadcast, then unicast (as attached) and goes on its way. SP2 tries, pauses many seconds, tries again, finally

XP SP2 - winlogon.exe crashes
============== The problem: ============== I am in the testing stages of implementing a Samba domain. My user is logging on to a standard win xp SP2 desktop, with the samba pdc, supplying the credentials. The logon screen disappears and an "SAS window: winlogon.exe - Application Error" box pops up on the Win XP screen. If I click OK the machine reboots. My user can log onto the Debian

Offline folders and XP SP2
Hi All Various versions and patches of Samba (2&3) seen this on a number of sites now. XP SP 2 will report a server off line, and go offline, typically after being connected to a network for 1-2 mins. Mainly all sites running Mandrake Linux 9.2 or 10.0 with default shipping Samba. Removing off line folders or SP2 solves the problem. There is no bandwidth or networking issues. I have

Sudden domain login problems from XP-pro sp2 clients, Please help!
I am running Samba 3.0.7 on Gentoo Linux. The server is configured for domain logins and roaming profiles, and there are about 40 Windows XP Pro SP2 clients that login to the domain. This has been setup and working perfectly since October, until this morning. Now, anytime a client tries to login, they get this error: "windows cannot connect to the domain, either because the domain

XP Pro SP2 issues
Hello everyone, I have foolishly installed SP2 on a XP Pro laptop and now I can't print to samba printers anymore. I have upgraded to samba 3.0.7 on my server but it still doesn't work. I see they have patched the 2.2.11 version for something that looks like my issue, but nothing for 3.0.7. I attempted to downgrade my server to 2.2.11, but let's just say that didn't go well.

Samba 3.0.7, WinXP Pro SP2 printing issues with netbiosnames.
Hi We're currently experiencing some problems that wasn't a problem in 3.0.4. Since SP2 was installed printers get connected \\<ipaddress>\<printer-name> instead of \\<netbios-name>\<printer-name>. It's more common on SP2 machines but it happens on non-SP2 machines. Although these issues are not consistent. Which some windows applications seems to have a

problem login W2k-sp2 and 4 to samba 3.0.2: profiles
Hi once again Now I have almost everything working, that is, Samba 3.0.2 with Ldap database (messages ok when reading), and I want it to be a PDC, everything seems to work fine when registering machines or users, but when logging, I mean, entering W2k-Sp4, my computers (two of them) reset themselves: they begin to load the user defined stuff and then when one expects the the navigator bar to

3.0.6 ? and XP SP2
I posted a while back about problems logging in via a laptop with XP SP2 on. Today I have found some more information (i.e. something else now doesn't work) which should help the developers identify/solve the problem. As far as I can see this has not been on the list. My original problem was that having installed XP SP2 & 3.0.6-1 (as a new install) I found a laptop, which I usually log

Write performance of Win XP Pro sp2 & Samba
I have a file testing program that creates, writes and indexes a file on the server from the Windows client. On xpp sp1 the program takes 7 sec to write file and 8 sec to read the indexed file. After telling the Firewall to go away I can get the following numbers from xpp sp2; 29..30..45 (tested multiple times) sec to write the file and 7..8 sec to read the file. Any ideas on why the

XP + SP2 + DFS + netbios alias = not working
Hi all, I'm using Samba 3.0.6 (on IRIX 6.5). This is just a 'let you know what I've discovered' message really. I've just installed upgrade a laptop here to SP2 of Windows XP. It then started failing to make network connections. After much fiddling about, I tracked it down to DFS shares. This PC can now connect to the DFS root OKay, but doesn't recognise the entries

offline folders problem with W2k SP2
Hi, had samba 2.1.?? version and Win2k running for some time and offline folders worked just fine. But recently I installed SP2 on Win2k and did a samba upgrade to 2.2.3 and now the offline folders do not work any more. Everything is fine until I go offline, */CSC/ contains my offline files and everything seems fine, but when being offline I always get access denied messages when accessing
