Adaptive design code
I have been trying to create code to calculate the power for an adaptive design with a survival endpoint according to the method of Schafer and Muller ('Modification of the sample size and the schedule of interim analyses in survival trials based on interim inspections,' Stats in Med, 2001). This design allows for the sample size to be increased (if necessary) based on an interim look at

graphics: y limit on xyplot
I would like to set the y axis limit of an xyplot using the object 'ylimit', but receive this error: [1] 990 Error in extend.limits(limitlist[[i]], axs = axs) : improper length of lim I get the same error if I use ylim. library(lattice) trellis.device(col = FALSE, theme = lattice.getOption("col.whitebg")) name <- "Variable name" symbols <-

Changing parameter in local fdr R code
I am using Efron's local fdr procedure. But, I want to change the null from N(0,1) to N(0, 0.002). I can access the function but I have no idea what to change. In other words, I want nulltype to be N(0,0.002) instead of N(0,1) in his function. Anyone has any ideas. This is his code for the local fdr: function (zz, bre = 120, df = 7, pct = 0, pct0 = 1/4, nulltype = 1, type = 0, plot = 1,

Help with gsub function or a similar function
Hey, sorry if this has been addressed before, but I'm really new to R and having trouble with the gsub function. I need a way to make this function exclude certain values from being substituted: ie my data looks something like (15:.0234,10:.0157) and I'm trying to replace the leading 15 with something else - but of course it replaces the second 15 with something else too. If there's a

Swat update :)
IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!! But before I say what I did... yall have to promise not to laugh! (MAH!! I HEAR YOU!!) ... anyone ever heard of.... /etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd restart I can tell you from experience that 'killall -HUP xinetd' is NOT the same. I can also say that nobody will find that command line entry in "Using Samba". To show my appreciation to the groups involved,

AD, add computers delegation
Thank you Louis, I'll have a try! And yep, you're so right about using groups rather than users, so that's what we did ;) I'll try to test that today and come back to tell yall how it went. DataGrid (Table) using tables/Scriptaculous Sortable
Hey yall, I wanted to share some code I''ve been working on as it seems up the alley of folks on this list. It''s not rails, per se, but one day... DataGrid: http://development.finetooth.com/?p=6 This also showcases the option.delay perameter I''ve submitted into scriptaculous - hold down your mouse for one second on any column other than Vendor and then drag away ;) The

OT recommend an IAX phone or IAX softphone+USB handset?
Hi Yall, I would love to put a very compact phone on my wife's desk at work... Ideally this would be a very small IAX phone with 2 RJ-45's so I could drop it in without much notice and only have to beg for 1 port from the sysadmin. I have looked around and I don't see such an item in existence? What I would love is a "home" phone looking handset (wired is fine), which

Basic problem with Samba 3.0.11 PDC on Samba Red Hat RHAS3 ACL srpm.
People have been experiencing problems with the subject line. AFAICS most of them haven't bothered to follow selected bits of the HOWTO. However, the former excludes all references to the idealx scripts, which I cannot use, since my DIT is set up completely differently from the idealx concept. I write my own, disjointed, shell and awk OpenLDAP scripts. Neither on my RHAS3 test rig (config as

persp(), x- and y-axis with character strings
Dear R list, I want to plot the yield curve in a 3D graph: the x-axis refers to time; the y-axis refers to the maturities and the z-axis are the yields. The following code works fine: persp(y, x, as.matrix(ypper), xlab="Last 50 periods", ylab="Maturities (months)",zlab="Yields", zlim=c(3,6),theta=130, phi=15, col="Seagreen", box=T,

More on Changing Windows Passwords
Hi yall, I am having problems using unix password sync. I am able to change the smbpassword successfully if unix password sync is turned off. However, when I turn unix password sync on, I get: Unable to change the Microsoft Networking Password for the following reason: Incorrect Password on the Windows98 client. I am using samba 2.0.3 from the samba-2.0.3-19990228 rpm on RedHat 5.2. We

MuMIn - assessing variable importance following model averaging, z-stats/p-values or CI?
Dear R users, Recent changes to the MuMIn package now means that the model averaging command (model.avg) no longer returns confidence intervals, but instead returns zvalues and corresponding pvalues for fixed effects included in models. Previously I have used this package for model selection/averaging following Greuber et al (2011) where it suggests that one should use confidence intervals from

Replicating Legacy Phone Behavior
Hello, I was demonstrating Asterisk capabilities with a SIP Soft phone to a Key system installer yesterday, and we were discussing where Asterisk can fit into that market. He brought up some interesting, user-centric questions which I couldn't answer. I didn't find anything in google that realy addressed some of these questions, so I figured I would post them here to see what yall

leaps and bounds
Dear friends. On the Bayesian averaging homepage http://www.research.att.com/~volinsky/bma.html I found some S code some of which perhaps may run in R. There was a call to an algorithm possibly within S but not supported by R 64.1: "leaps and bounds". I guess it is a minimization step. Can anyone clarify the algorithm and perhaps even give a pointer to some code ? I guess this may be

prediction intervals (alpha and beta) for model average estimates from binomial glm and model.avg (library=dRedging)
Hi all, I was wondering if there is a function out there, or someone has written code for making confidence intervals around model averaged predictions (y~á+âx). The model average estimates are from the dRedging library? It seems a common thing but I can't seem to find one via the search engines Examples of the models are: fit1 <- glm(y~ dbh, family = binomial, data = data) fit2 <-

pipe data from plot(). was: ROCR.plot methods, cross validation averaging
All, I'm trying again with a slightly more generic version of my first question. I can extract the plotted values from hist(), boxplot(), and even plot.randomForest(). Observe: # get some data dat <- rnorm(100) # grab histogram data hdat <- hist(dat) hdat #provides details of the hist output #grab boxplot data bdat <- boxplot(dat) bdat #provides details of the boxplot
