compare st_mode & 07777, or Aix dirs always differ
Under Aix directories have the mode 024xxxx instead of the customary 04xxxx. Because of this when you sync a directory to or from an Aix system it's never up to date. Here is a patch which fixes this. It causes rsync to look at only the bits that chmod actually influences, 07777, when deciding whether or not the modes differ. I was surprised there wasn't an existing constant for 07777,

Samba Passwords
I have a RH 6.0 server setup with accounts for about 1500 users (school), I use encrypted passwords. I would like users to be able to change their samba ('Windows networking') passwords and at the same time change their unix passwords (used for E-mail). I have the following in my smb.conf file as per the given example: unix password sync = Yes passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u passwd

smb show /tmp when you use UNC
Have a perplexing problem here... If you UNC to the IP the shares show up fine, if you UNC to the DNS name when I go into the shares they seem to be pointed to /tmp. Also the printer isn't visible when you use UNC to DNS name. Since I'm using server based security is it possible it can't indentify me? [global] workgroup = WORKGROUP netbios name = SMBSVR server string = Samba

Hi, according to ?rvm the relevance vector machine function as implemented in the kernlab-package has an argument 'cross' with which you can perform k-fold cross validation. I tried to mount a PCShare file system with smbmount and was surprised to see that there is a problem while writing files to the mounted file system. I can read everything and move things an make directories within the shared file system. But if I try to copy a file from the local disk (LINUX SuSE 8.1) to the shared file system I get an I/O error. I suppose that this is not a permission

kernlab:ksvm:eps-svr: bug?
Hi, A. In a nutshell: The training error, obtained as "error (ret)", from the return value of a ksvm () call for a eps-svr model is (likely) being computed wrongly. "nu-svr" and "eps-bsvr" suffer from this as well. I am attaching three files: (1) ksvm.R from the the kernlab package, un-edited, (2) ksvm_eps-svr.txt: (for easier reading) containing only eps-svr
