NTLMv2 - wrong password with samba?
I have samba 3.0.14-5 installed (installed via Fedora Core 4's Yum) I have enabled "client NTLMv2 auth = yes" in smb.conf When I run "ntlm_auth --username=user --domain=MYDOM" it connects fine (change user and MYDOM to be my user and my domain) When I run "ntlm_auth --username=user --domain=MYDOM --diagnostics" it fails on all tests with "wrong password"

wbinfo -a always failing with NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD
Hello! Please help! I have been googling and experimenting for the past few days, but I can't get user authentications to work with my AD domain. Fedora Core 2 running Samba 3.0.7-2.FC2 Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition After much fuss, I was able to get it to join the domain (had to disable client signing). "wbinfo -u" and "wbinfo -g" both work fine, and I can see

Problems with 'ntlm_auth --require-membership-of' using Samba 3.0.6
Hi there, I'm trying to configure Squid to use a windows domain for authentication, and all goes well until I add the "--require-membership-of" option on ntlm_auth. I need to restrict access based on group membership, however ntlm_auth does not seem to be behaving correctly. I'm using Samba 3.0.6 on Debian and I'm using a Windows 2000 (SP4) Domain Controller. I

ntlm_auth: (pipe \PIPE\NETLOGON) has died or was never started (fd == -1)
I'm exeperiencing a strange ntlm_auth problem: I'm running two domain with a trust; the trusting one, (EUFEMIA with the PDC Beatrice) uses the WINS facility of the trusted one (LETTERE, PDC Alice). Users of EUFEMIA and LETTERE alike have a successful logon to Beatrice. LETTERE users do authenticate in Beatrice with ntlm_auth. EUFEMIA users do not: beatrice:/home# ntlm_auth --username

weird winbind problem
I'm setting up a samba server that should authenticate against a samba 3.0 +Ldap PDC server. This is the situation 1) getenet passwd and getent group are ok 2) wbinfo -t -> checking the trust secret via RPC calls succeeded 3) wbinfo -g -> lists all the groups on PDC (nice!) 4) wbinfo -u -> lists all the users on PDC (nice again!) the problem is wbinfo -a test 1: a non existing user

Samba PDC & Squid NTLM Auth - Same machine
Hi Guys! Probably this is not the best place to ask, I'll try anyway... =) I've been trying to configure a Samba PDC and a Squid Porxy server with NTLM auth on the same machine but NTML_AUTH keeps complaining about: NT_STATUS_INVALID_HANDLE.... I have others machines running Squid and Authenticating against a Samba Server but on different machines, this is the first time a try both on

Urgent Samba / Squid NTLM Auth Problems
Hi, We are having problems setting up a squid cache server to use NTLMv2 authentication to authenticate users against AD. We have narrowed the problems down to being a problem between samba and squid when using NTLMv2. It constantly moans about the password being wrong when using squid, but doing a direct samba auth works fine. We have (believedly) narrowed it down to this: the domain requires

ntlm_auth
I am trying to get FreeRADIUS using Samba's ntlm auth for MSCHAPv2 authentication. I asked this question over on the FreeRADIUS list, and I think the stunned silence means that the folks over there think you guys in the Samba world may be able to help better. I admit it's been a few years since I did any Samba! I have joined my two RADIUS servers (FreeRADIUS 2.0.2, Solaris 10 x86,

freeradius + NTLM + samba AD 4.5.x
Ok, I finally could try it out, and it seems to actually work, but You need samba 4.7 on all machines, not only AD, but also server with freeradius. I didn't get a chance to test it locally, that is samba AD + freeradius on the same server. Setup: 4.7.6 AD server and 4.6.2 samba member + freeradius didn't work (got simple "nt_status_wrong_password") but: 4.7.6 AD and 4.7.1

Domain problem...
Hello all, This is the first time I write to the list. Sorry about my english... My Debian Sarge server was working perfectly with samba and winbind as a normal client in a Domain enviroment. I was able to share folders on my linux machine giving rights to the domain users. Everything was working until one day in that it crashed for some reason I don't know. I didn't touch anything of my
